Re: Sports Thread
Glad you had a good day at Silverstone AM and that's a great photo of you in the McLaren
Must confess to not seeing any of the race as we were down at Perth for the racing - 3 winners so very happy with that
You've also just alerted me to the fact that there's news about Lily and Hope so away to catch up :)

Re: Sports Thread
Ooops missed your pic of you in the McClaren Anne-Marie I'd love to sit in one, mind you I wouldn't mind driving one either, having a legal speedy day must be so cool.
Just watched the qualies for the Hungarian GP tomorrow, Vettel is in Poll with Webber 2nd, Lewis is 6th and Button didn't get anywhere, he was out at the end of the second qualies, he's 11th on the grid so not good at all for him.......Red Bull is taking over could be a straight race, Hungary is very much like Monaco, not that good for any overtaking, so it could all be down to tyres, fuel, pit stops and anyones bad luck......my fingers are crossed for lewis

I listened to the first few overs of the Test Match this morning about 12-15am. I could'nt believe it when it was 3 wickets for 2 runs. Wow what a start, and then this morning we had bowled them all out for a low score. Come on you Poms

Re: Sports Thread
Next Sunday the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year will be decided and us racing fans will be voting in our thousands for a jockey called AP McCoy. He has rode over 3,000 winners and been top jockey in the UK for the past 15 years, as a racing fan he is everyone's idol.
After 15 years of trying he finally won the Grand National this year, a race that has been a lifetime ambition for AP. Usually a very cool, calm, focussed, professional guy his joy and excitement when he passed the winning line was so unlike him and there for everyone to see, I must admit I actually cried while watching !!! He is the ultimate sportsman who risks his life race riding every day and during his career he has broken (some more than once) his ankle, leg, arm, wrist, middle vertebrae, lower vertebrae, both shoulder blades, collarbones, chin bones... and so on, infact he's broken most of the 206 bones in the human body !
You don't have to be a sports / racing fan to like the link I'm going to attach here, thought I would share it with you all as it's rather funny and very well done.
Hope you like it and vote AP !!!

Great pic AM - sounds like you had a great time. How exciting to sit in the car!!
Yes WS - the cricket, we are one up now and boy are the Aussies worried as they don't really have anyone decent to put in the team, i hope they put Johnson back in - not.

Re: Sports Thread
I stayed up till 1-00am hear the end Minty nearly did a lap of the house when the last wicket went down. Then I thought Oooops better not Mrs S is in bed, could be me nest getting a Bat round the head sending me in a spin, and up the Swanney .
There saying on the News here that there are rumours of Shayne Warn being asked to make a come back. As if
I hope not

Well done to the 15 times Champion Jockey AP McCoy who won the BBC's Sports Personality of the Year last night. Of the 698,242 votes cast McCoy received 293,152, about 41% of the poll and almost as many as the next five in the poll combined. Really pleased he got this

We did go yes :) It was a wonderful evening !!
I voted for Swanny, as he's an old friend! Sad to see he only got 13k of the vote, but AP McCoy was phenomenal, getting that many votes is amazing!! He had a lot of support in there too!! So many cheers when he won!!

Re: Sports Thread
Oh yes WS what a day for England, the blokes at work were giving me a hard time yesterday thinking they had this test in the bag. We did have the tele on in the watch house today but was too busy to watch the cricket other than to check on wickets. Am keeping quiet for the moment though as it's only day one. The fat lady aint singing just yet. TTM x

Re: Sports Thread
True Minty It's to early yet, and the wicket could be a lot easier on the 3rd Day, but 157 for 0 is a good base, as long as we can post a good big score, and not have a collapse. Keeping my fingers X

Re: Sports Thread
He really spat his dummy out Minty, and I though Peterson really showed him up when he walked being LBW. I thought we might be on a wobble when Collingwood, and Bell went, but good old Trott saw us through. We should really win it from this position
