We spied one of these in the trees in the park at the end of our garden:
Would be nice if it hopped the fence into our garden.

SM thats a cracking shot. Great to see a Green Woodpecker, you may be lucky they spend most of the time on the ground feeding, but if its starting to look for a nest site that might be the tree. You'll have to start an ant colony in your garden their diet is ants, ants, and more ants.

OK this is embarassing I would love to claim credit for the photo but that was one from Wiki to let you see what is was like.
Wondering though how the Great Spotted Woodpeckers will take another species of Woodpecker on their territory.
