How awful is this. Some of it is due to the recession but sadly some of it is just down to plain old stupidness by the owners, not planning how much it costs to keep a horse and then idiocy of people buying horses for trophies and then dumping them.
It makes you angry to know this is on the increase as well, why are people so stupid, so many beautful creatures that don't deserve this, so thanks heavens for these centres.
Good to know that Munch & Frie are doing well and will soon be up for new homes, lets hope they have long happy lives there.

I Agree Littlewid. Sadly people don't realise just how much it costs to have horses/ponies and just how much care they need. We had a case locally of total neglect and death and it was disgusting to realise it had happened. Thankfully Munch and Frie look like they'll be okay but so many others suffer total neglect it is heartbreaking.

This sort of thing has been happening in Wales as well, it was in the news a bit ago. If they ca'nt afford to keep, and look after them at least for Gods sake get them to a Welfare Organisation before it's to late for them. Also in Wales there has been a big problem with unscrupulous owners of large number of Horses, just dumping them on public land for free food, they leave them there for weeks, even after there is no food left, leaving the land in a terrible state, and badly damaged. Some of the horses have had to be put down, and because the RSPB, and Police do'nt know who owns them, they cant serve any papers on them. Before anything can be done in a lot of cases they vanish over night, and are then dumped somewhere else

As a horse lover this read makes me very sad Crying or Very sad I don't understand how people can't see that to own a horse would not be an expensive - it's obvious they are going to cost money to look after them properly.

The Blue Cross and many other centres are doing the best they can but it sounds like they are all bursting at the seams Crying or Very sad

That's awful WS people dumping the horses on public land and very sad some the horses have had to be put to sleep Sad
