News - Osprey chicks hatch at Rutland Water
After a five and a half week incubation period, three osprey eggs have hatched at Rutland Water Nature Reserve.
At around 04:00 BST on Monday 31 May 2010, a hidden camera picked up the first chick breaking out of its shell.
Soon afterwards it was fed its first taste of fish by the mother, before the appearance of its sibling, 24 hours later. The third arrived on Wednesday....

What wonderful news, and a lovely clip. It's amazing just how gently the mother was feeding these tiny chicks.

Thats lovely news SM and a gorgeous video clip. They went to great lengths to protect the nest with round the clock monitoring of the nest.
If you want to see constant updates and watch the live cam, heres the link, they will be folowing them until the chicks fledge.

Re: News - Osprey chicks hatch at Rutland Water
When I checked this morning SM mum was up and tending to her chicks, it was a little hazy on the cam but you could see what was going on, i'm sure the picture got better during the day.
Do you reckon you may take a drive out there to see if you can see them?
