I'm not sure how many people use Facebook but I've just joined a group called 'Walking for Lions'

Lots of great information and facts and photos.

You probably all know about it but in case you don't it's definitely worth joining.

I have just watched their 2013 video Lai and it's really stimulating isn't it and it has some truely wonderful pictures and the music is just inspiring. I have liked and will follow this on FB.
Thanks so much for the link. It did get me when he said wild animals will become a thing of the past.......so sad but we mustn't let it happen.

I Agree Littlewid and the clip is very moving and emotional. Definitely worth sharing around, the more people who are aware the better.

Definitely Lai, I think I forgot to share on FB so I need to go back on and share it as the more people who are aware the better for the Lions and wildlife in general. You just wish you didn't have to share stuff like this, its a real shame.

The number of views on this thread has doubled since it's been featured on the home page, and Walking For Lions have expressed their appreciation that WAA is supporting them , and complimented WAA on how good the site looks. Lets hope those that are looking in follow up, and help the Lions of Africa.
I really love that song, it really says it all for these Animals

WS it is wonderful that WAA has helped to spread the word for Walking For Lions, that is what this forum always wanted to do, apart from being somewhere for animal lovers to meet and chat and share experiences and knowledge and fun, it was also about trying to help and make a difference, looks like we are doing our best.

Just checked my FB and I did remember to share and as you say, lets hope lots of others like and share as well, after watching both those clips, how could you not.

Walking For Lions Update
We wanted so share with you some statistics that we have been able to find over the last few weeks while being back at base camp. With Walking For Lions becoming more and more viral through the help and determination from all of you, we wanted to show you the results of the top 7 countries that have been most influenced so far by WFL, but also wanted to give you an idea of which top countries actually import Lion Trophies that is part of LEGAL hunting.

Compare the 2 figures and let’s take this one step further and make people more aware of what is really going on in Africa.
To see what we have achieved and reached with all your support already is leaving most of us speechless, so let us not stop here, let us all go bigger and BIGGER.
We can only change things, TOGETHER.

Walking For Lions Total Reach

United States of America

United Kingdom

Germany

Kenya

South Africa

Australia

Italy

In total, 75 countries imported from all the countries that exported trophies. The top 5 importing countries are as follows (with their total percentage import from the total exports)

Total Import of Lion Trophies according to the CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) website during 2000 <

1. US 64% (3858 imports)

2. France 8% (504 imports)

3. Spain 8% (496 imports)

4. South Africa 5% (302 imports)

5. Mexico 4% (214 imports)

Whilst many people will not be surprised to hear that the US is the top importing country as they are well known for trophy hunting, it may surprise people to see that France and Spain take the second and third spots.

Thanks WS. Very interesting facts and figures, and yes I was surprised at France and Spain, but not in the least surprised by the USA
