This is not good news for our Hedgehogs or us. Again the decline is due to man and is such a shame for our harmless, wonderful Hedgehogs.

I agree LW really bad news for the e've known for sometime now the problems with pesticides, and fences. Also the lack of hedgerows, I think another major problem for them is that there are lots more gardens being decked out, graveled, and covered over which affects even more the availability of food

That is true WS. I had my garden done as it was easier and better for Nero but it's not hedgehog friendly which is such a shame. My neighbour has his garden as grass and borders with flowers and bushes, it is a wonderful garden and he also has a regular hedgehog that he feeds which is lovely.

Another article on helping to save our Prickly friends. It is written by Sir John Lister Kaye and really is a good read.

Caught up with this thread now, such sad news about the hedgehogs being in decline, I can't say when I last saw one. I love that he punched the motor cyclist on the nose for killing the little hedgie. A very interesting article.

Thanks Littlewid.

Lai that gave me a lot of satisfaction too, I know it's a dangerous thing to do, go around punching people, but he so deserved it and it was for the little Hedgehog, so to that Sir John I say You the man

I have not seen many Hedgies this year but I know the one who comes to my neighbours garden is still around and doing well and a man down the road from me is involved in hedgehog rescue.
