Thats a really nice site SM. There were a couple I hadn't heard of before, theres also a lot of good information on there. It's nice to see the whales being promoted on the site a bit they are wonderful creatures.

We do get Minke whales around the east coast of Scotland,I've seen two ,one boxing day.Sadly most seem to be reported when they are found dead on the beach.
I've yet to see one,but we also get Orca occasionally in these waters.I quizzed a retired lighthouse keeper who worked the Scurdie Ness light near Montrose,he wasn't always watching the sea,but he had witnessed an Orca skinning a seal and eating it.Two years ago we had a seal (common seal)washed up on the beach,it had been bitten in half.I've not been doing quite so much snorkling recently.
Dolphins are quite common,in summer up to 20 can be seen around the Tay estuary.I have seen Harbour Porpoise, but they are quite rare, sadly I'm told dolphins kill porpoises.

It is sad that marine mammals seem to get coverage when they are washed up on a beach either through natural causes of being attacked by other mammals or because they have got themselves off course and stranded and end up dying on the beach.
It sounds as if you live in a very lovely place Tigerburnie, mind you Scotland is a wonderful place. Did you do any underwater photography whilst snorkeling?
