What a tragic story - let's hope something can be done quickly before they suffer anymore stress.

That is appauling, quarantine pools are much bigger than that, how on earth do they expect the dolphines to swim in that, to them its no bigger than a bath tub.
Every day you get stunned by the things people will do for money. I hope the tour companies continue to boycott it and he never gets his liscence and the dolphines are moved to a more appropriate and natural environment, lets hope born free and the sun can help to improve the lives of these poor dolphines.

Re: Dolphins being kept in small pool!
Got through email today:
Subject: Great news from the Dolphin Angels about Tom and Misha
from Carina VonkJuly
Dear Dolphin Friends,
Great news today everyone! We are getting closer and closer to closing the 'hellhole' Tom and Misha are kept in down!! It's not just great news for Tom and Misha, but also for all captive dolphins in Turkey. Please keep the pressure on, continue to spread the word about Tom and Misha's plight. Please continue to raise the profile, get newspapers and celebrities involved, lets do this for Tom and Misha! Thank you so much! Here is the latest news from the Dolphin Angels, Turkey:
Today the Ministry of Health issued a Directive - that is another word for ORDER
As of right now no humans are to get in the Hisaronu Dolphin Pool.
It has been declared unfit and signs have to go up around the pool stating that humans are forbidden to get in the water.
From now on anyone who sees anyone swimming in the pool must report it and make a complaint to the Zabita.
That is step one...
The process for determining the water is safe for the Dolphins is being worked out and information sourced on the internet and from Born Free and WDCS who are working together to support us has been sent to the appropriate people.
There are 23 Dolphinaria in Turkey - who knew there were so many!
All Dolphinaria are going to have their water tested...
Who would have thought such a little Dolphin Park in Hisaronu would lead to a world wide protest and as yet untold impact on the future of Dolphinaria in Turkey.
We are now beginning a journey that might lead to very significant changes in attitudes, practices, policy and legislation in Turkey.
The adventure is just beginning and hopefully before long Misha and Tom will be on their way to a better place.
The issue of Misha and Tom has been raised by the Ministry of Health with the Ministry of Agriculture but as yet we don't know what their response is or will be.
This will be more tricky and there is bound to be some resistance. We will continue to work on this and keep you informed as and when we can.
Thanks everyone for your endless support!!

What good news SM, it's a start in the right direction, it sounds as if it's going to take a while for Tom and Misha to be in more fitting surroundings but at least positive things are happening and it has highlighted other Dolphinariums and they are all going to be checked out, good news for all Dolphins in Turkey.

It is good news LW. Im just the kind of person that can get impatient on these kind of issues. Though peple can no longer get into the pool it has not removed Tom and Misha from their prision.

Re: Dolphins being kept in small pool!
I agree and I am an impatient kind of person too but I suppose they are trying to do the right thing for all the Dolphins in unfit Dolphinariums. They are starting by saying the place is unfit for visitors to swim with the Dolphins, that way they are not earning any money, the next stage is to see about getting the place and others like it closed down, I take it that they are trying to do this in a logical manor so that other places like this don't spring up somewhere else in Turkey.
I know it means Tom and Misha are still there but I suppose its better that its done right to prevent it happening again.
But yes like you I would have liked them to have charged in and removed Tom and Misha but this way may just be better in the long run and at the same time they have to find a suitable place for Tom and Misha to go to.

Tom and Misha
Watching breakfast tv before getting our train back home this morning we saw the long awaited release of Tom and Misha back to the wild where they belong.
It was such a magical moment. Needless to say I was watching it.

OMG how brilliant, I didn't know that at long last it had happened, how fantastic is that, greta to see them swim fee and the pics of them in the ocean and Tom catching a fish and Misha leaping is just the best. They so deserve their freedom and what a wonderful job everyone involved has done, just brilliant news, Thanks Lai.

It just goes to show what can be achieved by people once they decide to do something positive.
Good luck to Tom and Misha, I am sure it will be tough out there, but they've a great chance of making it in the wild where they belong.
