Re: Masai Mara Safaris
Aatish sends his apologies for not posting the last couple of days, but his brother has become ill in the Mara, and he needs to get him back safely on a plane to Nairobi. I've told him there's no need to apologise Family come first everytime, and that we all whish his brother gets well soon. Perhaps a message on his Blog if you have time would be nice

Re: Masai Mara Safaris
Thanks for the update WS and that's a shame about Aatish's brother, here's hoping he gets better soon, I will post a message on his blog to that effect.
I'm awaiting confirmation (ie I've sent a message to Aatish) but after looking at his photos on FB it would appear that we met him and his brother at our last visit in the Mara in 2009, 99% sure it's him. We got speaking to him & his brother on our last night (they had just arrived the day before) and I remember we all said it was a pity we were leaving as it was obvious they shared as much of a passion for the cats of Kenya as we did and we'd have liked to have chatted to them more. Will let you know what he says but I'm pretty sure it's him, small world eh :)

Re: Masai Mara Safaris
Got a FB message back from Aatish yesterday and it is him and his brother that we met back in 2009, it really is a small world isn't it !!!
As I previously said we were all disappointed we only got speaking to them on our last night as it was obvious they knew so much about the Mara and it's animals. He was saying they was on safari 11 times last year how fantastic. Their dad knows the guy that owns the Mara Intrepids which is why they go so often and get a good rate.
I was saying I was a member of the forum and I see he has kindly put our link on his FB page
Hopefully we might see them again when we're there later in the year and be able to chat in more depth

Re: Masai Mara Safaris
That's so brilliant Doogs - I hope you get to see them again this year. Imagine going 11 times a year, I would be in heaven.
I saw he mentioned WAA on FB which is great.
Perhaps we will all bump into him in the Mara - what a great thing that would be.

Re: Masai Mara Safaris
Hope that Jackson and Paul Kiru keep us up to date with the cats now that Aatish has come back to the UK. Did see that Jackson posted quite a bit on his FB Page today including the horrible news that one of Olive's Cubs is missing Here's hoping, like the last time, he/she turns up, fingers crossed.
Got another message through FB today fm Aatish, said his 'lens locked up and his contacts jammed' the day before he left, reckons it's going to be expensive to get it sorted when he gets home

Hey Aatish - we hope so too !!!
I think you should forget about Uni and just go back out the Mara so we can get all your updates and photos
You know I'm only joking not long to go now and you'll be finished for good

Re: Masai Mara Safaris
I think that was on FB last week but unconfirmed if I remember so I didn't post - too many rumours so best to wait to know. It will be tragic news if it is confirmed.

That certainly is very sad if it is true. Let's hope it's a mistake and the cub/cubs are ok.

Re: Masai Mara Safaris
I'm afraid the news is not good at all. Had another email from Aatish. He says he has now heard that it is 99% that both Cubs have been killed, proberbly by Hyenas. There is still 1%, but it does'nt look good

It is Lai, if I remember right. They were in danger before, and Paul Kirui intervened, it was something he had not gone before, but could'nt help himself

Awwwww no I knew they thought that she'd lost the two cubs but sad when the news is confirmed as you're always hoping they'd turn up.

Re: Masai Mara Safaris
Aatish is back in Kenya, and is returning to the Mara next Saturday the 12th. He tells me that one of Olives Cubs sees to be missing, but from what he can find out no one has had a clear sighting of all three since he was there in December
