BBC News

Lion Extinction 123
There has been a "catastrophic collapse" in the number of lions in West Africa, with only around 400 left in the region, a new survey suggests.

I had no idea the lion population in west Africa was so low, I do follow Panthera but hadn't realised. It really is devastating news, once these lions are gone it will be another species man has destroyed. Sad reading and let's hope something can be done about it.

Thanks for the info and link WS.

Neither did I Lai, must admit because of Kenya I tend to focus on East Africa.

400 is an incredibly low number, I really hope something can be done to save the species there  Crying or Very sad
