Demise of Longleats Lions
Although this is British based it is about Lions, so not really British wildlife and not quite African either so here it sits.
WS this is similar to Marius the giraffe's story. I don't understand why this has been done and apparently neither do some very respected wildlife vets, it's all a bit strange at the moment. Sadly these were the lions that were posted on here a couple of weeks ago leaping up a tree.
The article talks about contraception and Henry had been vasectomised so I don't understand why this has happened. Another very sad story for this weekend.

Re: Demise of Longleats Lions
Read this in the M O S today, and couldn't believe the story. It really doesn't make sense, when as is said there are contraceptive means of controlling the Lion population, and surely the breeding process planned with the space, and other Lions in mind. As you say LW it does bring to mind the Matius Giraffe post, is this another botched Zoo programme, where the animals have paid with there lives. There needs to be an investigation into what's happened, and they need to detail what was wrong with each individual animals, if they are saying it was health issues. I also feel sorry for the keepers who came back to this after the winter break after spending so much time taking care of them, they must have been devastated.

I am wondering if there will be an investigation into this WS. The vets are waiting for an outcome of why this happened and the Zoo they came from originally don't understand it either and had not been informed either and they are waiting for more news. It really does seem as though with Marius and now these Lions that animals are still seen as ten a penny......disgusting

I also saw this story over the weekend and couldn't believe what I was reading. I also do not know why this happened and sincerely hope there is an investigation which the public get to read / know about. What a terrible way to treat those poor lions
