Bear Conservation
A place to share links to bear conservation organisations, rehabilitation centres and sanctuaries.
I'll kick it off with 'Bear with Us'... http://bearwithus.org/
Bear With Us Mission:To promote the understanding and respect for the bear family.
Fulfilling the mission: The four primary areas of operation for Bear With Us are:
1-Black Bear Rehabilitation; orphaned bear cubs and injured bears cared for and returned to the wild in a high state of health.
2-Bear Sanctuary; various species; A comfortable place to stay for permanent non-releasable bears such as ex-circus bears, zoo excess or illegal pet confiscations.
3-Education; (a)-Off location slide/video presentations for groups at Provincial Parks, schools, cub and guides, other young people’s groups, nature clubs and more. (b)-Comprehensive website, Facebook page and a special educational Facebook page for Molly Bear. (c)-One on one phone conversations and email responses to individuals with questions regarding bears.
4-Conflict Resolution; Assisting people and bears to coexist together. Individual consultation with people about how not to encourage or discourage a nuisance bear by removing food attractants, live trapping and relocating individual bears when other potential solutions have been exhausted.

Olivia Newton-John adopts moon bear 14/10/2014 12:34:29
Actress Olivia Newton-John has adopted a moon bear in Nanning, China, that was rescued by the charity Animal Asia, after spending years trapped on a bear bile farm in China enduring agonising bile extractions. Olivia is just one of the bears rescued by the charity in what has been the world’s biggest bear rescue and is now at their sanctuary.
A health check last month revealed some of the trauma she'd suffered at the hands of the brutal industry.
She had been declared and her canine teeth had all been cut back to gum level leaving them badly infected and smelling horribly. The infection was so pronounced that it had spread to the surrounding bone. Mentally, too, Olivia bears scars. Her head is covered in wounds from where she has repetitively banged it against the bars of the cage.

Fortunately, vets found no terminal conditions and expect Olivia to make a full recovery.
Olivia Newton-John said: "I've followed Animals Asia's work for some time now and it is a pleasure for me to be involved in a project like Peace by Piece. I can't stand the thought of 10,000 bears suffering bile extraction across China. It is a cruel practice and has to end. I'm happy to be able to do my part and look forward to watching Olivia bear go from strength to strength under Animals Asia's care."
Olivia has joined a whole host of celebrities who have adopted bears including Ricky Gervais
Animals Asia founder and CEO, Jill Robinson MBE said: "I know I'm not the only Olivia Newton-John fan at Animals Asia, so it's safe to say that we're delighted to have her supporting Peace by Piece – which is undoubtedly our greatest ever challenge. Olivia is a massive name in music who still draws huge crowds more than 30 years into her career so her support is invaluable in getting our message out to a wider audience."

Re: Bear Conservation
I love Animals Asia and we also foster a bear, a wonderful organisation doing so much for those poor bears.
The more celebs that get involved with all these charities the better.
Thanks WS
