Hyenas' laugh is no laughing matter
From Reuters:
Scientists believe they have decoded hyenas' so-called ''laughs'', which appear to be distress signals and reveal information about the animal's social rank. Stuart McDill reports.

Re: Hyenas' laugh is no laughing matter
That's interesting SM, I remember reading something similar before about an animals vocalisation, I don't think it was the hyena, I am wondering if it was the Meercat but it too was all about social status and heirarchy and it was different to what we believed their vocalisations were all about, I wished I could remember what animal it actually was but meercat springs to mind but you know what my memory is like, it may have actually been the Hyena for all I know/remember.
