Re: Some Wildlife around Stanwick Lakes
Well off i toodled to Stanwick Lakes yesterday, leaving my camera behind as I had no luck on Wednesday at all, guess what .... the camera shy lot all came out! Well I managed to take some snaps on my phone but no where near as good as they would have been with the camera!! Thought I'd share!!
First came mummy duck with 9 babies
Then the geese with 19 between them, the younger family of chicks have appeared to have lost one though I'm sure there was 8 when I saw them last.

Thanks Lai. I'll be back there again tonight, armed with my camera! Who wants to bet they will go all shy again and not be about?

Love them AM.
Its always the way, we never have our cameras when we need them, but your phone pics are a good quality.
Love the way the goslings swimming in lines like that and you can see one family is bigger that the other.
Very Nice.

Re: Some Wildlife around Stanwick Lakes
It really was cute!! As soon as we'd gone past they got back out the water again!! So funny!! I do like the way the two families seem to be sticking together. Is that normal behaviour for geese?
I'm glad you said what baby geese were called because I had no idea

Re: Some Wildlife around Stanwick Lakes
Thank you WS!! I'm incredibly lucky. I could actually walk there, but its a route I don't feel comfortable taking on my own and I think it would tire little Millie out to much to walk there, round the lake and back!! It has looked so beautiful this weekend, with the sun out. I've been heading up there before 9am, before it gets to hot and its still been very warm!! Mill struggled yesterday and kept flopping in the grass!! Will update with some pics later :)

Those are just gorgeous to see - what great photos Anne-Marie. Lucky you seeing all those lovely babies. I think i would have to spend hours there just watching them all (without the dogs )

Re: Some Wildlife around Stanwick Lakes
I second that suggestion SM, Anne-Marie should do her own thread and be our Goosewatch Chief, those chicks are going to grow and it would be lovely if they had their own thread and we could all follow them up on a regular basis....Please do it Anne-Marie.....if we had a begging smilie I would put one up
They are simply stunning pictures and we need regular updates....PLEASE....start your own thread for them.

Re: Some Wildlife around Stanwick Lakes
Ok, ok. You talked me into it. Chief goosewatcher!!
Was up there last night, I think we may have lost a chick not a good start to goosewatch. Need to check the picture to make sure. Mum was on camera duty yesterday though so need to see how they came out. I'll transfer all pictures to goosewatch thread when I can :)
