These are really lovely pics Anne-Marie. Love the colours on the bird and the the giraffe against the backdrop of the sky and land! Looks like something I would have as my desktop wallpaper :)

Gorgeous photos AM. That photo of the Dwarf Mongoose is brilliant, nice to the Giraffes. The Lilac Breasted Roller is lovely, do you know what sound it makes ?. I was watching Petes Pond earlier in the week, and there was a sound coming over the speakers that sounded a bit like the squawk of a Parrot so the Bird was very close to the hide. Then the camera panned to just below the hide, and on to two Birds. I managed to get a shot, and I think it's from the Roller family looking at your Photo. This was my shot, its a bit on the small side unfortunately.

Anne-Marie, that LBR is stunning, what a great photo, you've caught all the beautiful colours perfectly. The mongoose is adorable and the giraffe beautiful.

Thank you everyone these are probably my favourite photos. I just forgot to post them in the excitement of posting the big cats and eles.
WS, I'm not sure what noise they make I'm afraid. We'll have to do a search and find out what birds you managed to snap at Pete's Pond.

Looked in my book of Birds of East Africa. It says of the LBR "displaying birds give loud rasps breaking into a long series that develops into a harsh rattle".
Does that help WS?

Love the buff with the Oxpecker up it's nose - great shot Anne-Marie
The bird is a Crowned Lapwing I think - the little chick is almost invisible in the grass, amazing how it blends in.
Any more please? I'm loving these Anne-Marie.

It was adorable Lai. We were lucky because our driver loved the birds so we were always stopping to look at different species. Probably something you would normally miss if your driver was just adamant on finding the big 5.
Loads more to come nice to sit here and go through them all.

about the drivers - some think you are only interested in the big 5 which is such a shame, it's like they want to whizz you round from animal to animal 'get the shot' and onto the next
I'm really into the birds and Pete's into all the bugs, beetles, and hyenas so we stop and look at anything and everything
It's great for you to have another look through months later, happy memories and of course wonderful for us!

Brilliant AM ,little, and large as you say there is so much more to see than the big animals. Great shot of the Ox Pecker, and the Buffalo.
The bird I snapped at Petes Pond, I'm not sure the sound heard was from that bird, the sounds I heard like a Parrots shriek were heard just before the Cam panned onto the Birds in the pic

Great shot of the Buffalo with the Oxpecker up its nose AM
I missed that little Crowned Lapwing on the ground at first, such an adorable little ball of fluff
Africa must be a bird spotters paradise as there as so many beautiful big and small birds there. I love that there are a number of different eagles that can be readily spotted.
