Re: Spring Watch 2010
I have a beautiful yellow rose bush in my garden and every year the blooms just get better and better, however, I never manage to get any pictures of them, so today I thought I must get my camera and take some. It's only a little digi cam so the close ups arent too bad but trying to get the whole bush and focus nicely is not so great but i'm glad I have them this year to remember them before the weather ruins them.

How lucky was that WS, they must have known you were watching. Beautiful picture of them all yesterday, the have all done so well and to know they have all fledged is wonderful but to come back to say goodbye was good luck for you, you were watching at the right time, just brilliant. Thanks for posting them WS, lets hope they all do ok now.

Thank you Safari Maiden for posting the link to this site on the Spring Watch Message board. This is a very nice site and I am impressed with your Spring Watch page, there are lots of good pictures of birds and Hedgehogs are one of my favourites.

Re: Spring Watch 2010
There has been an update on the Kestral family and the sparrowhawk family they were following on springwatch. Good and bad news I'm afraid. here's the link:

Thanks for posting the update link Anne-Marie
Sadly that's nature. I was so upset when they said during Springwatch that the kestrel mum had been killed but am delighted that dad continued to feed and provide for them and that they have fledged successfully. What a tragedy for the Sparrowhawks - sometimes it is hard to find out what has happened, you imagine they all fledge and all is well.

Re: Spring Watch 2010
Thank you for that link Anne-Marie, it's good to know the Kestrel family are doing well and that dad is doing such a great job all on his own for his chicks. very sad about the Sparrrowhawks, I know its real life but its still very upsetting when it happens and especially when you have been following their progress.

Re: Spring Watch 2010
That is really sad about the Sparrow Hawk's. There was a Guy that Chris Packham visted on S W that had lived on an Island for the last few years Photographing Sparrow Hawk's he had built tunnels all over the place so that he would'nt disturb them he got some brilliant video of them. The Kestrel Dad was a

I know that was quite something wasn't it? I wondered if he spent his entire life out there watching and decided he probably did. What dedication.

Re: Spring Watch 2010
How lovely was that WS, they didn't seem bothered knowing you were there did they, usually when birds are that close to you they fly off, I wonder if they are used to landing on cars and people being there......or were they waiting for you to get the sarnies out!!!!! I enjoyed those WS.

Re: Spring Watch 2010
They are really used to people, and cars. It's a Motorway Services so there's loads about There's always been a flock there, buy I could'nt believe it when it just landed on top of the Door, and just sat there, and it did it twice. Perhaps it's because all Starlings are related
