Scotlands Mink Menace Empty Re: Scotlands Mink Menace

I have to agree that minks are/have completely decimated our voles and other creatures on our river. A cull seems the only answer, I know that won't go down well with us all but what is the alternative?

Having just caught up with the last Autumnwatch and the cull of the Red Deer, which was awful to watch, it seems as usual humans have upset the balance and wildlife is now suffering as a consequence.

Not an easy one to accept.

Thanks WS.

Quite amazing to hear there's so many of them Shocked Unfortunatley as LP says a cull seems the most obvious answer and I certainly can't think of an alternative solution scratch

The river I fish is trapping Mink and have been for some time, they don't seem to be making much difference, still catching regularily. It makes my blood boil that the majority were released from fur farms by so-called animal rights supporters. They are the one who should be hanging their heads in shame,I doubt numbers of small rodents and riverside birds will ever recover. As a fisherman I can remember seeing Bank Voles everytime I visited a river, now I'm struggling to remember the last time I saw one.

I agree totally TB - so much for animal rights supporters, they have no idea just how much damage they have done.
