Scotlands Deer migrating from the Glens
This article explains that deer are migrating from the Glens into councils estates. Sadly, they talk about killing them but there is no mention as to why they are migrating.....is it because there are too many of them or is it something else.
Doogs have you or TB heard anything about this?

Re: Scotlands Deer migrating from the Glens
Quite amazing story. Although I'm not in Glasgow I know where Easterhouse is and I'm both shocked and amazed that there is so many deer in such a built up area.
No idea either LW as to why they are there but I would guess it's the sheer volume of them making them move or could it be that food is a problem in their 'usual' habitat and they are looking elsewhere

That sounds really strange. I wonder if its because the Highlands, are becoming over populated, and or there's a shortage of food. They must be getting there food from gardens on the Esates

How curious and I wonder why? It's sad news though as no doubt they will be shot, run over, injured and abused by non animal lovers.
I hope they can find a solution that doesn't involve culling them.

First thing that popped into my head was animals usual follow the food. Is there an issue with land management in the Glens?

Re: Scotlands Deer migrating from the Glens
Just re-read the article again guy's and there are a couple of names on there that I can search and see if I can find ways of contacting them to see if they can shed any light on it and also if they plan to try and safely get them back to where they should be rather than shoot them, sadly though, reading it again I reckon they will be more up for shooting them than relocating them.
I will let you know what I find and if I can contact them and more importantly.....if I get a response.

Re: Scotlands Deer migrating from the Glens
Roe deer are everywhere this time of year, when the the young disperse they vanish.Nothing new in it really, numbers of deer are high, both Roe and Red.To put into it's correct context however,Roe are not really a "Highland" animal, but then the torygraph even prints a picture of a Red deer in the article and it's not about Reds at all.Still when have the papers ever bothered about accuracy in their stories.
