Autumn Watch tonight, im really looking forward to it. Its a real shame its only 4 nights but at least the beeb havent cut it like they do all other good programs.........talking about BCD. I think the last night also has an unsprung which is great, I do love that.
Im glad the beeb are getting a pasting over the cull.......so they should.

Great Autumnwatch this evening and loved the murmerations of starlings, thats something you will never get tired of seeing. However, it was good to see some I sight to the badger cull but.........how blooming interesting to hear them say that Badgers only get. Btb from infected cattle did we not know that already and then why are the badgers being persecuted, have they just shot themselves in the foot there? They have just admitted that Badgers are not at fault, you cant blame them for being mobile. Just goes to prove there is a need for a vaccination program and that farmers need to test their cattle moreand also have better husbandary of their land. All that being said though, many innocent Badgers have lost their lives through this governments stupidity.

Good to see the cull finally being discussed on Autumnwatch and yes they admitted it was the cows that started it, the clue is in the bovine bit I could scream really.
I watched upsprung afterwards and laughed a lot at Nick being so nervous I wonder if they are training him up to take over from one of the other presenters ???

Loved the Starling murmurations, amazing to see them all go in, and that they do not actualy stay where they land, but move around quite alot. At least they brought the Badger cull up, and I suppose tried to find a balance. Missed unsprung as it was on the Red Button, and did'nt record.

I forgot to say yes the starling murmerations were simply stunning. I think Pete and I may have to go to Leighton Moss just to see them.

Re: BBC Autumnwatch 2013
Another fantastic program this evening and so many beautiful birds but I must admit I am looking forward to tomorrows with the foxes in Brighton, thats about 13 miles from me and the Brighton University that made the fox program with Mark Evans the vet who now is chief vet for the RSPCA I think.
Loved Unsprung with Nick, what a mad hatter he is, its very pickley but I really enjoyed it and I like the hare painting, Chris' s is very good. Im sure Nick will settle but I do like his liveliness.
Who do you think he may replace Lai? I notice there is still quite a bit of negativity towards Michaela.

Loved the Bearded Tits, what beautiful little Birds. I've never been a big fan of Unsprung to be honest, but I did catch it last night, and both Mrs S, and, myself thought the paintings were fantastic really loved them. I think it would be unusual if they replaced Michaela with another Male Presenter, but I dont think she's come across that well.

Re: BBC Autumnwatch 2013
I dont know about you Guys, but Autumnwatch left me feeling a bit flat this year. There were no really stand out moments, yes the Bearded Tits were nice, and the Starling murmurations, but there was no real exciting moments. There were no storylines to follow, they seemed to skate over the urban Foxs, and the programe was recorded to late for the Rea Deer rut. When you think back to how it was with Kate, Oddy, and Simon following the Red Deer rut on Rum, it just pales against those series. I also noticed, there was no mention of a Winterwatch Special this year, or any mention of Springwatch next year. Makes me wonder if this is another wildlife programe they are going to drop

Re: BBC Autumnwatch 2013
WS - those were the days I think they did mention Winterwatch though. I admit I only caught one episode of Unsprung and that was the first one and the last few minutes of the last one.
I hope they don't drop this series as although it was not a patch on what it used to be it is still interesting to see our own wildlife in the UK

Re: BBC Autumnwatch 2013
I feel the same, I loved the murmeration but I agree I was so excited about the foxes but it was a bit of a let down. I kept waiting for it to get exciting and it just didnt. I agree the older series were better and in truth I think they made too much lf their night time camera. I know it is exciting but not all the time and they had presented Martin as a roaming presenter supposedly coming across all things exciting but even that flumped a bit. I suppose to try and keep things fresh they will try new things but lets hope that they have learnt that what isnt broken doesnt need fixing and they return to the old format, also with Martin doing unsprung instead of Nick, I like him but he was hopeless, like a very excited school boy who had lost his way, it didnt involve much of the other presenters either and was a real mish mash........I still like Nick though but it didntwork.
Lets hope this isnt going to be dropped because at the end of the day as you say Lai, it is great to see our wildlife and a whole program dedicated to them.
