Re: Quiz
I new that would happen We were out about 5 mins when Mrs S came up with Eiderdown from the clue. I though someone is going to beat me so I'm logged on in a internet cafe, and you got there first again. I did look at Eider in my bird book but did'nt think that was it from the pic

Eider it is,the females are brown and raise the young, the males have nothing to do with raising the young. This picture was taken looking into the sun which dilutes the colours(making it more difficult). The "roman nose"is the clue to the i.d. if you can't see the colour.Profiles or call/voice is often the key to bird recognition.

Re: Quiz
Well done Lai I was in a shopping precinct, in Colwyn Bay, and I invested a £1 in one of the PC terminals but there was a fault it would'nt connect to the internet. It took me 1/2 hour to get someone to sort it out, but I would'nt have got on before you. Good clue TB I could kick myself for not getting it before we went out. Must have been still half asleep

Re: Quiz
Lai you got my second choice that I mentioned, I was waiting for TB to come back on Mallard when I posted it and then missed yesterday, I was having a dilema over Eider or Mallard and chose mallard first Well done you for getting there

Re: Quiz
Thanks WS and Littlewid - it was only the clue not the photo as I always thought they were black and white, so you learn something new everyday. Thanks Tigerburnie
WS you do make me smile - nice try with the internet cafe, Mrs S must have been impressed with your getting out of the shopping

Re: Quiz
I too thought High Brown, but seemingly we don't get those in Scotland. The picture was taken at nearly 2000 feet ,not that far from the Glen Shee ski slopes. The surprise is on it's underneath........
