Lai, sorry to hear that your trip to Iceland was literally washed out and consequently the Northern Lights couldn't be switched on!! It must have been very depressing particularly with the accommodation problems.

Sadly I think storms like Desmond are going to become more and more commonplace and not just occur every 100 years as our feeble politicians hope. We have got to face up to climate change and start spending our tax money on upgrading the infrastructure in this country instead of indulging in stupid foreign wars to boost a few peoples egos. There has been much back-slapping and self congratulation in Paris for the climate change talks but I cannot see much actual change taking place with so many vested interests in charge. I think we will have to rely on d.i.y.!! I noticed my neighbours now have a boat in their front garden and we are about 60 miles away from the sea. Perhaps they know something I don't.

As you say it has been very quiet on WAA perhaps everyone is doing their Christmas shopping to keep the economy going.

I think you are right Safariman, the climate is changing and what we are currently experiencing will become commonplace in the future. Loving your theory on your neighbours and their boat!

I've looked at my Iceland photos and want to delete the lot! Landscape is not for me at all however I will post one or two just to show we've been away ....

Enjoy the week, we're off to London for a night on Wednesday, going to the Natural History museum first to see the Wildlife photographer of the year exhibition, then supper with friends and then the following morning an exhibition at the British Museum to do with Egypt and the Pharoahs - another busy week

Completely agree SM to many Goverments and people with their heads in the sand NIMBY'S. If we need a boat here the planets in real trouble we are above the snow line

Good morning everyone

So it's Christmas week  hope you're all ready and in the mood  We've bought all our food, haven't done any decorating yet  and we finish work on 24th at 12 noon, oh yes I am indeed a hard task master

Whatever you're up to have a good week.

All done ready to jump in the oven for a warm after being in the cold. Only one downside when your retired you don't gat paid for holidays , but better than working for a slave driver like some people I know

WS. We had a wedding yesterday and now are quiet until 28th so we are winding down ...... only a half day tomorrow with our staff xmas party lunch and half day on 24th generous or what

Well I have been marinating the from the inside for the last few months I was beginning to suspect I'd overdone it when it started slurring, and talking Gobbly Gob instead of Gook. My worry now is it wont be able to walk into the oven, and stand up for the required length of time

I'm only popping in this morning and then off to the hospice to do the flowers with my mum and then finish

Happy Christmas to everyone at WAA, hope you all have a great time over the festive season with lots of food and drink (although not too much!!) and are able to spend time with family, friends and loved ones.
Sadly the weather looks rather bad for parts of the UK and I feel so sorry for the people of Cumbria who have already been flooded out three times in the last couple of weeks and have to look forward to more of the same over the Christmas period.

Lovely to see some at last, we've had some reall hevy the last few dayas although we are ok there aremany roads close round us and flooded villages, and theres more to come towards the end of the week . We've had a great xmas hope you all have too

The whole of the north of England has been badly hit with the floods, happily our river is okay and hasn't burst it's banks to date, but looking at the news I feel so sorry for those who have been affected. It seems we have more to come as well which is terrible.

We've given up the idea of visiting WWT Martin Mere as bits of it have been closed due to flooding so we'll postpone our trip there.
