glad you like the and I am definately not one of those people you see cleaning windows in the rain because they will only get dirty again. I was going to clean then today as I've taken the week off work but looking at the weather report for tomorrow, and the amount of rain we're going to get I think I'll wait until the weekend

I'm sure all our windows are the same at the moment PPH, the wind and rain has been relentless.
Just loving the pictures, he is a huge handsome blackbird isn't he and I bet he has appreciated the food in this horrible weather. I'm really glad you posted the pics, its the bird we are interested in not your windows

Great to see your Blackbird PPH, at least you can see through your windows ours are ,and your right about the forcast it horrible. Now thats one Bird we dont get the Blackbird, they are normaly ground feeders. So you see all our feeders are meeting different Birds needs.

Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
when I put new food out I tend to put the old seed on the ground so it doesnt go to waste and for any ground feeders that can't get onto my feeder get some food.
Although it does mean I get a lot of plants growing including this summer a crop of about 7 ears of wheat!!!

Know what you mean PPH we've got loads of different grasses growing out at the bottom of ours. One year where we lived we had 2 Sunflowers growing at the bottom of the post the bird table was on, they nearly grew upto the top of the table

That's great you get a blackbird on your feeder PPH - as they normally stick to the ground that's lovely to see. It's one of the birds we seldom see and certainly no tree sparrows, so it's great we all have different visitors.
As for your windows PPH I don't think I could possible comment - ours are certainly at the moment and after last night's torrential rain they are going to stay that way!

Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
thanks everyone for your replies.
I've actually have this week off work and its been really great watching all the birds that I miss because I'm in work. I wish I could work at home because this morning I have had visits from great tits, coal tits and no fewer than 7 tree swallows.
They were queueing up to feed on one of the upper trays and waiting patiently in the hedge. I think the bird word of mouth have definatly gone around the tree sparrow community

It's great that you've had time to watch all your visitors PPH - some birds are really tricky to get photos of, they just fly in and out so quickly

on the subject of the windows. just heard today from the management company that runs the block of flats where I live that we are all getting new double glazed windows next week. So I think they can remain dirty until then

Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
the workmen arrived a day early and while I was in work, they phoned me up and I told them that I had a bird feeder outside the window that would need to be moved that I hadnt got round to doing cos they came early.
He said not to worry he would deal with it, so I worried all day that the birds wouldnt have any food cos the workmen would just put it down on the floor out of the way so the birds couldnt get to it.
When I got home I saw that the workmen had only moved it about 2 foot and stuck it back in the ground so the birds could still get at the food. They must be bird lovers as I was so happy

That's so nice to hear - they might have just dumped it somewhere and left the poor birds wondering where their food had gone. Isn't it great that people care? In this weather I feel so sorry for the birds, it really must be tough out there!

Ive bought some suet pellets for them as they need a bit of fat in the winter but they don't seem to like fat balls so I hope they like them

Good idea PPH, our visiting birds love the suet pellets, also the suet cakes and not so much the fat balls, although they do eat them.
Yesterday we had 3 hen pheasants and 1 cock pheasant who ate the entire contents of the tray which had a mixture of seeds, pellets and sultanas!

Great job by the workmen PPH, it's really nice when people are so thoughtful. Suet pellets are a great idea they give Birds alot of energy without putting in alot of effort to get their food. We do have pheasants by us, and although I have'nt seen them eating from our feeders, I have seen them eating out of the Horses food bowl in the field opposite at the same time as the Horse

Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
just caught up on your thread PPH. How lovely for you to see all the little visitors to your feeder that you would normally miss because of work, also lovley to see your visiting Wood Pidgeon.
I was touched by the thoughtfulness of the workmen, how wonderful were they. It would have been strange for the birds if they had appeared and their food hadn't been there. As you say, they are either bird lovers or just darn good hearted people.
How are your new windows?
