Red Kites
Just by way of information, it appears a colony of Red Kites is now firmly established in Northamptonshire.
Over the last few months I've spotted a Kite circling close to the A14 a few times. More recently I spotted three Kites circling together between J10 and J11. I'm not sure what is keeping them tied to that area, but they make for a beautiful sight on the wing.
The summer in particular should provide some opportunities for good photography around there.

Lucky you TT - that sounds wonderful. I've never seen Red Kites here, so we'll look forward to all your photos.

They are one of my favourite raptors. They are as weak as a kitten and true scavengers, but beautifully marked and outstandingly agile and graceful in flight.

Hi TT. I'm just down the road from you in Raunds. In the summer we had a Red Kite over Mum and Dad's house. And weekend just gone my brother phoned saying there were 5 kites circling. We do see them quite regularly so maybe a good place/direction to look out for them!

Hi Anne-Marie - thanks for the heads up. Perhaps you could send me a message to let me know where to go looking. I'm not familiar with Raunds, so a bit of directional help would be really appreciated!

Re: Red Kites
Its great that it seems like they are spreading out TT. They are a great sight to see when they are on the wing, or swooping down for food

I remember on the way to the motorway we say one swoop. I was surprised just how big they actually are.
Great to see!
