You may have already seen this but it's about 1000 Blackbirds that fell from the sky in America. As they say, a cause may not be found and it may be due to high altitude hail or lightening but another possible cause could be fireworks disturbing them, so really i've posted it as a thought towards fireworks and the wildlife.

I saw it on BBC news this morning, they are doing tests later today to try to find out what happened. One interesting suggestion sent in was to look at local factorys, which could have produced a toxis gas that stayed at high level, and was then blown away without affecting anyone else. Plausable I suppose

Can't get into this at the moment for some reason but will read later - sounds like a bad story.

That does sound a plausible suggestion WS. It's just such a shame that so many birds died. If they find the reason I hope the Telegraph follow up with the story so that we get to know what happened.

If it was fireworks then what a tragedy - I always hate fireworks for the poor animals and birds.

Thanks for that PPH, I was hoping we would get more news, although that is extremely sad. I have always hated fireworks and that just goes to prove why I hate them so much. I feel so dreadfully sorry for all those beautiful birds, how awful it must have been for them. Sad

Jet was fixated on the fireworks at New Years and he was indoors. Birds are supposed to have very nervous hearts and it sounds like they were scared to death, literally!
