the most stupid thing you've heard anyone say

Today in work one of my colleagues said with all seriousness

'Why did 65 people die in the earthquake in New Zealand, surely they shouldn't have been in buildings if they had been given a warning it was going to happen'

To which one of my other colleagues said

'The only warning they get is that the ground is shaking'

What is the stupidest/silliest thing you have ever heard anyone said in all seriousness

I agree PPH - i guess sometimes people say things without realising what they are saying.

definitely not a subject to be joking about but I just couldn't believe the comment and how silly some people can be. I think its worse is that I actually have a degree in environmental sciences with a post grad in geology so he was so close to getting a lecture on plate tetonics around the pacific ring of fire, but I thought better of it

although the person who said this does come out with a many gems the latest one being that he

'doesn't think angels as religious or spiritual in any way'
