Lily and Hope - The Black Bear and Cub

A video camera was installed in the den of a wild bear on Jan 8.
Lily gave birth on Jan 22.
Lily and her cub Hope left the den on March 29 !
The World has watched as Lily gave birth to little Hope and we heard the first little squeaks. The Black Bear Center has shown us the early days of a new born bear cub through DenCam, but now that they have left the Den we are kept uptodate with their lives through video clips. These you can view on this thread and with each new update it will be added in turn.

Isn't Hope just wonderful to watch now? It's so adorable to see them playing together.

Thanks SM It's great to catch up with Hope, and see how she is growing, and all her little antics really glad you found these I will show Mrs S tonight she just loves Hope

Awwww, so glad you found these. Isn't it just wonderful to see how much Hope has grown up. That cub never fails to put a smile on my face or make me laugh. She's all arms and legs as well!! So cute.
When I was on the plane to Egypt, Bearwalker of the Northwoods was one of the programmes to watch. It was about June and Lily and the other cubs as yearlings. Was also sad though as it talked about the hunting season, so vile! They just lay bait, then sit up a tree and wait for a bear to arrive! Horrible, they lost one of their radio collared bears and also (I think) one of Lily's brothers. Needless to say I was crying on the plane.
Might have to watch Hope again now to cheer myself up. Isn't it lovely to see the way they interact together!

Never heard of Bearwalker of the Northwoods AM and when I started reading your post thought oooh must watch that one, but if you were in tears by the end of it I dont think I want to now!
AM it is wonderful to get a glimpse into Lily and Hopes world, isnt it. They always put a smile on my face!

Great find AM! I like the way Lynn can get close, but the bears will let you know when you are too close and are in control.
I agree Doogs they look fabulous. It amazing how it feels like an age ago that we were waiting for the birth.

"Lily and Hope play in a large dead cedar then play in a live one nearby. A branch gives under Lily's weight and they both drop harmlessly to the ground. A huffy Hope climbs another tree then comes down and races off to catch up with Lily."

Hope is just getting so adventurous now and I'm not surprised the branch gave way Lily is a huge bear!
