Male Sparrow Hawk
Sorry for the circumstances of getting this shot, but it's very rare to have a chance of getting a shot of a Raptor like this, so I had to take it, and share it. As we all know things can't always be cuddly, and nice. You have to show wildlife as it is. I was just making my flask of coffee for work when I spotted this Male Sparrow Hawk on the wall outside. Rushed for my camera, and managed to take these.

Re: Male Sparrow Hawk
Thanks Lai it felt like one of those once in a lifetime moments, just like when I got the photo of the White Starling. I must remember to post it in Ws's Birds as well, as it's another species to add to my list

Re: Male Sparrow Hawk
Thanks Guys. I'm surprised there was no Camera shake as I was in a rush to get some shots before it flew off. It's still around, it seems to be watching the feeders. I caught two brief glimpses of it earlier in the week, it made a couple of strikes but did'nt get anything. It was also back this morning when I was making coffee again, at the same time. Sitting on the fence opposite the window, but again no kill. I think the birds have wised up to it, and are keeping a close watch for it.

It's great that it's still around WS and lovely that you can get some great photos.
When we had a young Sparrowhawk visiting earlier in the year although we enjoyed watching it in the apple trees we always worried it would go for the little birds, but it never did, I don't think it realised what it was supposed to be doing! Thankfully it's not around at the moment with all the young birds coming in to feed it would be easy pickings.
Looking forward to more photos WS

Thats a lovely photo of him WS. Glad he is still around but not bothering the other birds at the moment, lets hope as you say that they have wised up he is around. He is a stunning fellow though and I do hope you are able to get more shots of him.
