Re: My photos
As long as I know what shot I'm taking I would prefer to use Landscape mode, they seem brighter, clearer, and were more like the actual view, but as I said to Doogs, I tend to leave the Camera on Auto, then if I need a quick shot I've got it, and can always adjust it with the photo editor

Re: My photos
A fair point WS - but part of the fun is taking a moment to think about the shot before you start, and how you want the photo to look. You're right that the landscape mode gives much more clarity and auto tends to be a bit general.
As someone who still has 1362 from my last safari on my laptop and pc still waiting for me to crop and sort and blow up for framing and putting up somewhere in our house I am great at not thinking enough!
Angie Scott gave some good advice on this, and I think she is right otherwise I will end up with 1000s of photos she also said at the end of the day to adjust whatever settings you've been using back ready for the start of the next day. I'm more into shutter speed, ISO and white balance settings as my 3 basics.

Re: My photos
You do notice a big difference in the photos WS - good to compare them like that so you can see for yourself how different the shot can be using various settings

Re: My photos
Sorry could'nt resist putting these two on. They are of a Asiatic Lily I bought Mrs S last weekend. The shots were taken with the Flower setting on the Camera, on this setting it works in macro mode, and is supposed to enhance the colour, by making more vivid
I'm going to try it again, but with water droplets on the petals, and see how that turns out

Re: My photos
The difference between Auto and Lanscape is amazing WS, not being rude but Auto makes them kind of general but with lanscape they really come alive and it almost looks a different place. Not sure if I have landscape but I will definiately look and see.
Loving the Lilies and the colour is so vibrant, I love Lilies anyway but those pics are stunning, cant wait to see how they turn out with droplets of water on them.
Doogs, i'm really an Auto girl too, it's just this thread that has made me think about my camera, so if i'm now going to plan a shot.......that wont run away whilst i'm thinking about it, I will try and set my camera, but I know if I see something I will get carried away and just shoot and click

Re: My photos
Here's a couple with water droplets, these were taken outside rather than inside like yesterday. Trouble is some big idiot, got their shadow in the way of some of the ones I took

I love water droplet images. I have an oil painting with fruit with water droplets and you could get a cloth and wipe the water off it look so real.

Re: My photos
Now here's a strange little Fellow,he crawled inside the bloom on this plant, he's only about 3/8th of an inch long, with yellow, and black stripes like what we used to call a Honey Wasp when we were young. But check out the face, he's like something out of SCREAM
Notice how the Eye that is further away from the Camera changes shape no matter which side you look at. Wierd

Re: My photos
Ooooo WS, he is kind of cute but also very weird looking. His eye is strange, it looks like the very side bit of it is missing but it's just black right to the edge..He doesn't look like a wasp but then i've never seen a Honey Wasp......the more I look at him the more I like him
