Thats a tough one isn't it. They have found out so much by tracking birds that it can be to their benefit, but on the other hand if it's harming the birds and causing early deaths or lack of breeding it's not so good. I suppose you really have to weigh up the benefit v's risk outlook (if your looking at it from a scientific point) from an animal welfare take, should we be putting birds in harm to find out more information. I can see both sides but at least it does appear that they are looking at this with a sensible attitude.
I wonder if their is something as small as a micro chip that could track birds?

I must admit I always wondered about that. When something is not natural to a living thing then logic dictates it would have some level of detrimental affect. Lets hope it stops.
