Just had another look WS and no owletts at the moment. Mind you if they are leaving the pot then they could be sitting up on the roof or learning to hunt but I expect they are sitting higher up somewhere. Remember the owls we followed before, they left the nest in the barn and used to sit high in the rafters. They are a little young to hunt at the moment and will still be fed by the parents. It may be hard to capture them now but I will keep looking.

Spotted one earlier LW. Its on the corner post of the surround of the patio area. Not very clear, as the Cam's not that close, but it's to small to be an Adult. I think they are staying in the trees at the side.

There is an Owl on the Plant Pot this morning, not sure if it's an adult, or one of the young. Cant tweak the pic as I'm at the Pub, and not on my own PC

Brilliant WS. At least we know they are still around and as we said before they must be in the trees. I think thats a little owlett sitting on the post as the mum was quite big and if the owletts are still around then so will mum and dad be, it's just trying to capture them isn't it. I have just had a look and no one is home. I'm pleased you managed to get a pic though WS.

Doogs I was trying to think what I had posted before on owls we were watching and I thought they fledged completely at about 5 months old, so I thought I had better check my thoughts out for you. Found this.

These are Eagle Owls we are watching so this is what they say about Eagle Owls.

At 5 weeks young walk round nesting area, as we have seen them do in the pot.

They can leave a ground nest as early as 22 - 25 days and an elevated nest at 5 - 7 weeks.

At 52 days they are able to fly a few metres.

Fledged young are cared for by their parents for 20 - 24 weeks then they are independent and usually driven out by their parents.

So that is about 5 months as I thought. Our owlets are flying out in to the trees we think as often they are not on the balcony but we have a few more weeks of seeing our owls before they are driven out but we may still be lucky enough to see the parents if they keep the cam running. Once the owls have fledged for good the parents may mate again.

Your welcome Guy's. Just had a look in on our owletts and they are not there this evening. More than likely sitting in the trees.

Checked our owletts first thing this morning and they were not around and just had a look again and still no owletts, looks like they are becoming owls rather than owletts and spending a lot of time in the trees. Owl 2

I am sure they will still be there WS but it is natural for them to spend more time in the trees now, I just wish that the cam would be in a different position so we could see more of them.
