An interesting read. Some will agree and some will disagree, which is to be expected. it's a fairly long read but worth it whatever your stand point.

An interesting read, I must agree with the man who said now all he sees on his way to work is grey squirrels, magpies and crows though.

Surely we have to let nature finds it's balance as it would have done before humans interfered. One of the problems must be the introduction of non native species who then dessimate and destroy and wildlife round them and the balance. The biggest example I can think of is the grey squirrel.

I am all for live and let live but something has to be done soon.

Written by a pro fox hunter on a crusade I think, when man interferes, then man has to redress the balance however.
Lets start by helping birds survive the winter, help farmers set aside some decent food rich cover.
Domestic cats are by far and away the biggest problem to songbirds, closely followed by chemicals creating a lifeless countryside.
Polytunnels are also swallowing up thousands of hectares, with absolutly no benefit to the countryside, just to grow tons of strawberries.
Killing predators has been tried before and all it did was kill predators, nothing improved.

I quite agree, about the Grey Squirrel, and the Mink. Nature has a way of making its own balance, and we seem to spend so much time trying to right what we've done to unbalance things in the frist place. Lets help where we can by all means, and think about what we are doing to our countryside, before there are more mistakes, but lest not interfer with natures natural balance of predator, and prey.
