We wouldn't eat off of dirty plates so why should birds eat out of dirty feeders. Lets hope all bird lovers will be cleaning those feeders regularly and we will see an increase in the finches.
That was an interesting article PPH, thanks for posting.

Thanks for the heads up PPH. It is hard enough these days for our little garden birds, to keep your feeders and bird bath clean is common sense and such a simple thing to do to stop the spread of these bugs.
