I Agree Chui! They had recently dehorned Max and they still killed him for the little they could get. Great that the status has been upgraded and the patrol teams can meet the poachers head on.

Just got the Ol Pej email and updates. Poachers should be locked up and the keys thrown away.

It makes more than my blood boil Chui. I'd like to boil the poachers. Poor poor Max, it's a heartbreaking story and picture as well.
Poeple are so greedy for money, honestly it makes me so mad I can hardly think straight.
I wished we could treat the poachers with the same disrespect that they treat the animals they kill and mutilate.

I Agree With everything thats been said, its sickening that they have done this to Max, after being dehorned, and all the other Animals they kill. The answer is to stop the trade, because thats where the big money comes from, and without that there would be no benifit to poaching, but we all know how difficult that is, as seen with ivory, and Tiger parts. Leys hope the new status of the Rangers, will help to reduce the numbers killed

Thanks WS - tragic that 174 rhinos were killed in SA in six months. It seems poaching will never really be stopped until the chinese accept that what they are doing is Evil or Very Mad

I Agree Lai were there is a market there will always be poaching, but on the other hand any reduction in the loss of these magnificent animals gets the thumbs up Poaching 768480

Would it also not be a deterent having stricter search proceedures on people leaving the country (postal also) and arresting anyone trying to carrying rhino horn etc. with a heavier jail sentence.

Lets hope they get the support and injection of money they need to put their continued efforts into practice.
It still all makes for very sad reading doesn't it. I agree with your comment on stricter checking of people leaving the country SM and also the postal checks as well, they don't mention that in the article do they.

I know this is an older post, but I saw this and thought it fit here. Someone trying to help and make a difference. I thought if I post it here we might could get some more exposure.
