Re: Sports Thread
what are you two like !!!
Well after a good start / first set it all went horribly wrong for Andy and disappointing to see him lose. Djokovic is some player though and it was no surprise to see him come out on top.
Andy's blisters on his feet looked very sore

Re: Sports Thread
Missed it all but I have to say Andy is not my favourite player, I can't help the way I feel and Djokovic is a brilliant player.
Good to see WS and GR on top form again.
I would say Deuce

We're into a tiebreaker
With Novak it's kind of incredible how much of a love affair he has with Australia. Out of his 6 grand slams 4 of them have been the Australian Open!

That was the sign that it just wasn't going to be his night
But I am sure that he will win at least another slam.

Great Scott!
We finally have ourselves a green jacket! The curse is over
GR
P.S. If three of us in contention all lost out to an overweight, smoking Argentinian then I think it would have been time to throw in the Augusta towel for good

Re: Sports Thread
Sooooooo chuffed for Adam GR, he held his nerve brilliantly to be the first Aussie to don a famous Masters Green Jacket He deserved that win after throwing away last years British Open It didn't finish until 12.45am UK time, dad and I sat up to watch it all - tonight I think I will be a bit
I do like Cabrera though and he was such a gentleman to Adam in the play off - good man

Re: Sports Thread
I'll second that Doogs Scotty did brilliant to hold his nerve. I think he thought he'd won it on the 18th with a great birdie put, but Cabrera's approach shot to 3 1/2 ft was just fantastic. I thought that might put to much pressure on Scotty in the play off. Fair does though he held it together, and it was brilliant put to win it especialy after Cabrera's put went so close. Your right Cabrera was a real gent in loosing.

Re: Sports Thread
Well done the both of you for watching it (where was I? ). My mum as usual was all over it. She is the biggest Greg Norman fan I know (still recall her coming into my room in the early hours of '96 Masters in tears) and was chuffed with the result. Doogs, sounds like you have a similar relationship with your dad as I do, cause over the years we've watched a lot of sport up late too (of course being in Australia everything important is on at night), particularly athletics and cycling!
Amazing that both players birdied the last to send it into a playoff. And Adam Scott has always seemed like a really nice guy; so a very happy success story

Re: Sports Thread
Totally agree WS, Scotty and I will confess I did also think he'd won it with his 18th hole birdie !
Your mum sounds a right sports fan GR My mum is not particularly sporting so it's certainly my dad that I get it off of. We go to the footie and racing together and also watch a fair bit on the TV, especially the golf. Dad is worse than me though, where I would also watch nature programmes, documentaries etc he would just head over to the Sports channels !! To to hear you also watch a lot with your dad
The second 'Great White Shark' is my dad - not necessarily for his golfing abilities but definitely for the colour of his hair It has been said on numerous occasions how similar he is to Steve Martin !

Re: Sports Thread
Your dad is a silver fox Sport has been a common interest for my parents in their lives. Both adore the AFL, and are also always keen to watch any golf and tennis (these two games they also used to play together). Other common interests are that they sometimes go and see a movie together, and regularly play cards against each other (I forget the name of the game, but there is one word game they always play).
My dad is more like you than your dad as he has always liked to throw on a doco.
Where my parents and I probably differ the most is that I really love music, but they don't much. I don't like to have the television on all the time, whereas they tend to. Although admittedly I've had the footy on again tonight

Certainly haven't missed anything Lai! It's just a silly cycling race, though as I am a little obsessed with it I thought I'd make comment on it
I don't get the dole joke, unless it is referring to being at home during the day and having to watch any sort of boring daytime television which may include a three week cycling race

Re: Sports Thread
This is the ad on WAA as I post just now
Giro d'Italia 2013
www.ireland.com
Following The Leaders Of The Pack To The Pink Jersey
Not sure of how to copy it properly, but there seriously is an ad for the giro d'Italia on the website as I post!
for the info Lai on the more important giro Hey, I reckon they should have a race called The Euro, through all of Europe. Would probably need to go for three months rather than three weeks though!
I am glad to be able to just make a normal post right now, as uploading pics is proving to be a nightmare. Why won't you work?!
If you stick around tonight/this morning Lai, you might get to see one new pic per hour

Re: Sports Thread
It's the same for me GR. Our Broadband speed is and it's takes for ever to load pics which is why I do slideshows of safaris often! Having said that will post some Galapagos ones soon.
What we need is speed
I find that too GR. I'd been looking up river cruises for my mum and now everytime I log into WAA I get river cruises!
A ride through Europe would be good - but totally exhausting I imagine
Thanks for the link - are you suggesting we should be visiting Ireland? or you are? or
