Hey Doogs,
Good to see you back, How was your weekend, I bet it was wonderful. What did you think of war Horse? I read the book in about 3 - 4 hours whilst you were away, I couldn't stop reading it, absolutaly brilliant, cant wait to hear what you thought of the play.

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
Afternoon everyone
Just a quick post to let you know why Doogs is absent. She is back from her time off but has some bad news re Ali her beloved dog. She has Cushing's Disease and reacted badly to the pills she was given by the vet. It seems she can't keep any food down and now doesn't want to eat. Doogs and her mum took her to the vet again yesterday and Ali was given an injection to perk her up, if this doesn't work then I think there is nothing that can be done. Doogs is waiting to hear from her mum.
She wanted me to let you know she may not be on the forum for a few days.

Morning everyone
Firstly thanks to Lai for posting a message for me yesterday, I just didn’t feel like it. Secondly thanks for all your well wishes, it’s been a hard week so far and all your thoughts and kind words are very much appreciated.
Ali was confirmed by the vet as having Cushing's disease last Tuesday and given tablets. Mum & dad gave her one and she was really sick with it. They stopped the tablets but she's not been able to keep any food down since last Tuesday and now she doesn't even want to eat. She also hasn't gone to the toilet. When Ian and I came home on Sunday night she didn't even get up to see us, she just lifted her head which has never happened before, she always goes daft when we come in.
Mum & dad took her to the vet Saturday, Sunday (for injections to make her eat and poo but they haven't worked) then mum & I took her again on Monday, another injection to perk her up but again no change. The vet said to my dad he wanted to try a cortisone injection so that’s what she got last night. I must admit dad was keener than mum & I to get it, we think she's already been through enough and if she's not eaten for a week she's going to remain very weak regardless but I think dad wants to make sure we’ve tried everything. We will know today if it’s worked or not. I’ve not phoned mum yet as I’ll only start bubbling again at work if she’s not any better so I’ll go round at lunchtime to see her – I think she would have phoned me though if she was better. I’ll obviously let you know what the update is.
On a brighter note we had a great time in London, walked for miles ! Theatre was brilliant LW, totally recommend it, the horses are just amazing, so life like. I did cry but not as much as I thought I would ! Howletts was fantastic but spoilt slightly by the big bars on the cages where the gorillas are and the reflective glass so unfortunately we were unable to get any decent photos. Ian and I just sat and watched them for about two hours, they were so entertaining ! There was a little tooter who was just adorable and loved to play with everyone so I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. We bought London Passes for the Friday and ended up going to Kew Gardens, London Bridge, down the Thames in a Boat, a Music Experience Exhibition in the O² Arena then finally ten pin bowling before falling into bed, knackered !! Went racing to Goodwood on Sat and although the weather was horrible in the morning it turned out lovely and in the afternoon. Beautiful course and we had a lovely facility past the winning post looking right up the track. I managed two winners and Ian three so we did allright !
Will post some photos when I get the chance.
Doogs xx

Hi Doogs
I so hope when you go round to see Ali that she will have perked up and the injection has helped her. Everything crossed for Ali and please keep us posted.
It sounds like you had a really great time in London, certainly action packed and lots of fun, with the added bonus of some wins at Goodwood. Such a shame about our summer!

HI Doogs
Just caught up with your post for today (Been out All day). I am so hoping that Ali is feeling better and that the Cortisone injection has boosted her appetite, it's been a really tough time for her hasn't it and you and your family too. We have all been thinking of her and again we all send our love and thoughts to Ali. I hope the news is good for you today.
Lots of Love

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
Morning everyone
Thanks LW for your kind words
Well she is a wee bit better but we're not counting our chickens as she is still a very sick, old girl. She's still got her Cushing's Disease which it looks like we won't be able to treat her for after her being so ill last week and her back legs being so unsteady is a worry but maybe when she gets some food down her that will give her some strength and she will improve.
She ate for the first time yesterday which was just fab, mum & I were dancing in the living room when she did - we must have looked a right pair of idiots She got another dose of Cortisone (these are small doses) last night and depending on how she is today the vet wants to try a bigger dose tonight as it appears to be working for her.
I've been in work since Tuesday but I'm absolutely shattered, it's amazing how much takes out of you !! Ian is away this weekend on a Hillwalking Navigational Course so I've got 'the girls' coming round tomorrow night so that will be nice - no drink though, you know how emotional you get with a few down you !!!
Hope everyone has a good day

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
wonderful news Doogs - I'm so pleased Ali has perked up a bit and is able to eat a little. What a relief, I know it must be exhausting for you coping with the stress and strain so a girls night in is just what you need.
Fingers crossed the injections continue to help Ali.
Plenty of hugs to Ali from Tamu, Penny and me.

Re: Welcome to everyday Lets Talk
Doogs I am so pleased that Ali is responding to the Cortisone injections, sometimes it is just a little dose that is needed to kick start things off and then sort the dose out later as your vet is doing. lets hope things keep improving for her, sometimes the older dogs just take a little longer to respond but they can do as well as the youngsters.
Enjoy your night in with the girls, you need a good relax, worrying is incredibly exhausting isn't it.
Let us know how Ali goes tomorrow and over the weekend, we all send Love and Hugs again.
