Giraffe Cam

That second video is lovely WS and hopefully now all will be well, looks like Autumn has fully accepted her little calf

The little calf is now 1 day old and this morning all is well. Trying to get a pic of her/him is a bit hard as Autumn moves around she casts a huge shadow over the calf who is sitting down in the middle of the stall but all looks relaxed this morning.

The babys sex, and name is due to be announced at a Press Conference at
1pm their time, and 6pm ours. Will let you know as soon as I do. In the mean time a loving pic of Mum, and Baby after she had suckled

17 minutes ago.It's a BOY! The new giraffe calf was named Kiko, which means "autumn's child". Many congrats again to The Greenville Zoo and happy parents, Autumn and Walter!

What a wonderful name Kiko is thanks for letting us know WS. Great pictures from earlier today Lai and WS, heres a few from just now of Kiko and Autumn.......I wished Autumn would stand still when you are taking her pic

Kiko means Autumns Child in Swahili, he weighed in at 118lbs, and stands between 70 to 80 inches tall.

Nice to know the meaning of Kikos name WS, its a great name

Just found Paddock cam and although its not Autumn and Kiko out there it is Autumns stall friend, here he/she is outside and also in the stall, no sign just yet of Kiko and Autumn.

That was a lovely clip WS, doesn't Kiko look even more stunning in that video, he also looked quite a confident little giraffe, it was nice to see him and Autumn out and about with Walter looking on. Thanks for letting us know his name earlier WS.

Your right Doogs, it's lovely they are both doing so well. I have just had a peek in on them and Autumn is on one side of the stall and Kiko is on the other but it would be good pics of either of them. Autumn is standing, maybe feeding and Kiko is sitting down, but it all seems calm

I am not sure where Autumn and Kiko are, their stalls are empty but there is the addition of two rubber mats on one of the stalls, not sure what they are there for, they may have just been left there after something or maybe they are for Kiko to lie on, I don't know.

I checked the paddock cam and just caught Walter as he was walking to the top of the picture, he was away for a while then came back just in view, but he stayed at the top of the picture and didn't move, only his tail was blowing in the wind a little, I was willing him down for a snap but he did not oblige, typical man

For the last couple of nights there had been no covering on the floor of the two stalls, apart from a pile of mulch in the left had stall, and those two rubber mats in the right hand one. Autumn from what I've seen seems to stay in the one on the right eating, and occasionaly comes through to check on Kiko, who lies down on the floor , but not on the mats in the right hand one, in the same position as your last photo of him LW. Not sure why this is, but will try to check. I think the reason we are not seeing them is because they are outside on public view, but not in the same paddock as Walter

Thanks WS. The Paddock cam doesn't appear to be streaming this morning and I am sure Autumn must be out there as she is not in the stalls. Kiko is sitting on the floor but he is a bit of a blur, he must be having a Sunday snooze, will check the cams later again today.

The paddock cam wont be streaming as its 4hrs behind us there so its early morning. Strange there no sight of Autumn I would'nt have thought she'd be outside yet. They have put some bedding down now next to the rubber mats, these are a couple of pics from last night

I forgot about the time difference WS glad they have put some bedding down for Kiko, he may be on that this morning but its a bit blurry to see. Hopefully Autumn will make an appearance soon, I will keep a check out for her. Lovely pics from yesterday WS, thanks.

Well there is funny goings on in the stall today, they seem to have moved in a new species of Giraffe......not one I have seen before.......I need to Google it I think
Autumn seems quite interested though




I have been trying to capture Walter as well today but he is also being a little elusive, just managed to get him having a little nibble on the grass
