Re: Giraffe Cam
it's not a giraffe in her tummy its LOADS A FOOD !!!!!
Surely she can't have a phantom pregnancy with a tummy that big
Managed to catch her just now, three guesses what she was doing . . . . .

Re: Giraffe Cam
Cam not working again for me
Wee bit of info on a giving birth . . .
Birthing and Parental Care
Giraffe gestation lasts 400–460 days, after which a single calf is normally born, although twins occur on rare occasions. The mother gives birth standing up. The calf emerges head and front legs first, having broken through the fetal membranes, and falls to the ground, severing the umbilical cord. The mother then grooms the newborn and helps it stand up.
A newborn giraffe is about 1.8 m (6 ft) tall. Within a few hours of birth, the calf can run around and is almost indistinguishable from a one-week-old. However, for the first 1–3 weeks, it spends most of its time hiding; its coat pattern providing camouflage. The ossicones, which have lain flat while it was in the womb, become erect within a few days.

Re: Giraffe Cam
Thanks a lot for the info Doogs, I knew they gave birth standing up but I had no idea the calf spent that time hiding so learnt something new today
I have just checked on Autumn and she was doing what she does best......eating her head was sadly out of the shot.

Re: Giraffe Cam
Just checked on Autumn and her stall is empty, so she is obviously outside at the moment.
It would be a shame SM if you missed her birth as you have been watching her, fingers crossed she has her calf soon.

Re: Giraffe Cam
Autumn seems more like the Dad pacing up, and down outside maternity than a mother to be. Still doing the same thing, I hope tomorrow, but would prefer Monday when I'm off, and can get some footage, and pics.

Re: Giraffe Cam
Something may be happening Guys, been checking on Autumn while I've been on, and she's now constantly going round in circles, and stretching her neck, and head up as though she's feeling something, the door is open, and she's been out, but straight back in, and circling again.
Go to go off now for a couple of hours, but will check back after

Re: Giraffe Cam
Thats a great video WS and I too would have thought "Here we go". It must be today that Autumn is due, the 3 days must be up by now but this morning I cught her just as she was walking out of her stall and she is still very much pregnant.
Thanks for the video WS and for checking so early into this morning
