Re: Favourite Animals List!
The gyrfalcon is Icelandic and a falcon (surprise, surprise ), the national emblem/symbol of Iceland.
I googled something that had a similar name to the bird you mentioned WS and it said it was extinct. Is this correct?
Lai, I think that some of us might break four figures for our animals list!!!!

WS, how about the great crested grebe??? I do not see it on the list.
They are very sweet birds; I saw this mom with three babies near Helsinki Zoo a week ago:

Definately one to add to the list CC, and great shot lovely to see the little ones on her back.
Your right GR, sadly the Ooomebumbumbird is extinct now due to Global warming, it was native to the Hymalays, and inhabited the slopes at an exact hight of 4,125. 333 recurring meters. It was given the scientific name of LLBB because of its shape. It had Little Legs, and a Big Bum, at the hight it lived there was no problem for it to land because the snow was exactly the right texture for it to land on, it would just land in a long glide, slide motion. Unfortunately due to global warming this landing process stopped working for it. As the snow slush melted, rocks, bumps, and lumps surfaced, making the landing extremely painful. Hence the more common name that came from its cry as it landed Ooomebumbum. Sadly the number of birds bottomed out in the last decade
