Re: Jonathan & Angela Scott's Blog
Your right they certainly do get around they are off to Antartica now. There are also some blogs on Cheetahs that are interesting to read, and do explain why Cheetah numbers are falling, and what CCF are trying to do to help

Re: Jonathan & Angela Scott's Blog
From Jonathan, and Angies Blog 28th July
Jonathan and Angie are in London. Angie has had brain surgery for a cerebral aneurysm, [an artery, through congenital weakness, severe inflammation or great pressure, can suffer an area of weakness, causing it to dilate - the danger is that it will rupture, which can be fatal].
Happily, Angie, although weak, has had a most successful operation and is talking and managing to swallow tablets. According to Jonathan, she appears to be quite serene and he must feel like a dog with two tails.
If all goes well, Angie should be discharged within the week.
I have posted a get well good luck message on their Blog

Re: Jonathan & Angela Scott's Blog
I heard from Jonathan a few weeks ago about Angie but for obvious reasons I did not think it appropriate to post on this thread. It has been a seriously tough time for them both and hopefully Angie will be discharged from hospital within a week. She is in a London hospital, and in the best possible place, no disrespect to Nairobi and their health care but the UK has wonderful health care.

Re: Jonathan & Angela Scott's Blog
Quite right Lai, I only posted as it was on their Blog, and your right for this sort of thing she's in the best place, and hopefully have a speedy recovery without complications. As I said a friend of our had the same thing, and it can have devastating consequences, although she survived after it burst, its changed her whole life. Angie was very lucky that it was spotted, and she's been able to get the right treatment in time. So hopeflly the prognosis is good

Re: Jonathan & Angela Scott's Blog
The best news in all of this is that they caught it before it burst. That could have been devastating, as you say WS. Hopefully a full and speedy recovery and soon they will be back traveling the world as we all know they truly love.

Re: Jonathan & Angela Scott's Blog
What could have been awful news about Angie a few weeks ago is now positive and encouraging after her operation in London. I totally agree with you Lai that she is better off there than any hospital in Nairobi. I hope the early prognosis and being treated so soon will mean a positive outcome for Angie in the future. I wish her all the very best.
PS . . . . I agree that it was not appropriate for you to post this earlier Lai.

Re: Jonathan & Angela Scott's Blog
Good news, I've just heard from Jonathan that Angie's op went well, she is now out of hospital and staying with friends in London, making a good recovery and flying home to Nairobi on 31st August after seeing the surgeon again on 28th.
They must both be so relieved and looking forward to going home. Meantime Jonathan is still going to Rutland bird fair 17-19th August! You have to admire his determination and spirit.
He's also speaking at the RGS on 19th September 'Living with Leopards' - but Angie will be staying at home to recouperate.

Re: Jonathan & Angela Scott's Blog
Thanks Doogs. Jonathan has some really interesting views on the banning of Tiger tourism in India, and Pepe also makes a lot of sense in relating that to the effects tourism has had in the Mara in Kenya

Re: Jonathan & Angela Scott's Blog
Some updates from Jonathan via FB:-
Wednesday 22nd August
I can feel my heart rate upping a beat - the tension of knowing that we are getting down to the wire with loads of things to do before we head home to Kenya next Friday 31 August. I get Angie comfortably settled back in her beloved home (sure you can imagine how much 'home' means to both of us right now having been away for 3 months!) - and then turn round two days later and fly back to the UK for Visa Pour L'Image in Perpignan to represent Angie and myself as Canon Ambassadors at that annual Photographic Event. Time for some training on the latest Canon products. Then fly home to Kenya again on 8th Sept to pick Angie up and bring her back to the UK on the 15th Sept. We are at Photokina in Cologne on 17th Sept - the Garrick Theatre for a Big Cat talk for the Lichfield Camera Club on 18th Sept - then 19th Sept at the RGS in London - that is going to be awesome - with either Simon King or Kate Silverton to Introduce the evening of all things LEOPARDS. And finally we are at Droitwich Spa for a talk on behalf of Droitwich Camera Club on the evening of 24 Sept. No peace for the wicked! And we will sign copies of our book The Marsh Lions (updated 2012) co-authored with our great friend and star journalist Brian Jackman. Hope to catch you then!
Sunday 19th August
Wanted to say to all the many, many people who came and chatted to me at the Bird Fair - and who expressed their love and support for Angie and her recovery from surgery - and who missed her gentle presence but had the chance to enjoy her photography. A very very big Thank You to all of you. It really made such a difference - and was so lovely and reassuring to be able to feed those messages back
to Angie in our daily phone chats - made her feel very loved and very happy indeed. She is right here sitting next to me typing away on her computer - the headaches have been a bit easier too. Love to all of you and look forward to celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Bird Fair in August 2013. Angie and I will be there and looking forward to a big party with all of you.
Swarovski - still the best - they are just such a great company - might sound corny but it is like being part of a Family working with the team. And their products speak for themselves. My favorite binocular right now is the Swarovski EL 10x32 Swarovision - amazing clarity and edge to edge sharpness, wonderfully comfortable in the hands and lightweight. The 8x32s are also brilliant but I prefer the reach of the x10. Close focusing - what more could you want??
