Georgous to see you still have butterflies after all that bad weather and your lavender hasnt been washed away - you must have picked the only sunny day

Your right Lai it was a lovely sunny day yesterday, and I could'nt believe it when I saw the Butterfly I thought they would be long gone by now. I might put it on Autumn watch if they ask when you last saw a Butterfly.

I have an amazing amount of Spiders with large webs in our garden at the minute. I tried checking on the internet and the shape is like a common garden spider but the colouration is different the they are alot hairier also but the webs are everywhere.
Any clues?

Just thought I would let you know that my Bro-in-Law and I are doing our Fungi Walk on the 26th October, it's on the National Trust site in Slindon. I am hoping the weather is kind to us, I don't mind the cold or wind just hoping it doesn't rain as I'm hoping to get some lovely shots to post on here.....keep your fingers crossed for a nice day, i'm also going to keep my eyes peeled for the wildlife too

Re: WAA Autumn Watch 2010
I will do my best guy's, I am so excited about the walk and the Ranger that is leading the walk sounds so nice, he gave me his mobile phone number incase I had any questions between now and the walk, how nice is that of him, I have a feeling it will be a brilliant walk and i'm sure we will get to meet some really nice and interesting people on the walk, I just need to remember to take a little notebook with me to write down all the names of the fungi we see and keep track of them on my little digi camera. I'm also hoping to see some birds and the berries should be out as well.......can't wait

Re: WAA Autumn Watch 2010
Definitely take a note book, it's so worthwhile jotting down what/who you see - I'm a real like that and it really helps when you look back at all your photos.

Sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun.
Are sure he only gave you his mobile number to call about the walk?

Re: WAA Autumn Watch 2010
i'm sure SM and i'm sure that after the walk he will be changing his number, cos if I yak as much to him as I did to the Ranger at Cowdray Park, his ears will drop off too and he won't want me calling him to give him another ear burn

Re: WAA Autumn Watch 2010
Well today was the day and what a gorgeous day it was for our Fungi walk. The sun was shinning in all it's glory today and Slindon Woods was beautiful. The woods have a huge canopy of beautiful green, brown, red and golden leaves and the ground was the same, a beautiful carpet of leaves. Slindon Woods, on the National Trust Land is an enormous woodland that has the feeling of come and explore me, thank heavens we were lead by one of the NT Rangers otherwise I think we would still be exploring, very easy to get lost.
We saw a huge array of Fungi and after thinking I would be very organised and take my little notebook, I forgot it this morning, so the names of the Fungi have escaped me im affraid.
Nero came with us and he made many friends in all the children that were on the walk, he revelled in the attention.
It's the first walk I have done with the NT and I would definiately do more, the whole atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed, it was a brilliant way to spend a few hours on a Sunday morning.
Here are a couple of pics from this morning.
I do remember this one being called Porcelain (it is very shinny)
I know this is my sister and Nero
I do have some more I can post later and a couple that aren't mushrooms as well if you would like.

Re: WAA Autumn Watch 2010
I will post some more Fungi walk pics as I do have some really good ones, however, this morning it was pitch black when I got up and the forecast was for a cloudy day with heavy rain at lunch time. As the morning went on it got lighter and at 7.30 just as I was about to leave for work I looked at the sky, well you've heard the saying "Red sky at night shepherds delight, Red sky in the morning shepherds warning", well the look of the sky was definiately a warning as the forecast had predicted, and they were surely right, but take a look at these pics, they were taken at 7.30am it is the sky at the back of my house, apart from the old warning I thought the sky was spectacular, just a shame I only have a little digi camera.
