That was a lovely video WS, your patience paid off for that one Hummingbird I also checked out the link you gave and the Hummers are really tiny when they are born aren't they.
Just checked the nest and Baby is home alone at the moment and still no sign of the other egg hatching.

So funny, Mr P has just re positioned the cam as it was getting a little over exposed, he walked straight in front of the cam and said " Get out of my face, it's only me" Hummingbird cam - Phoebe - Page 21 40683 we now have a good position and can see the little chick and the egg. Still no sign of a pip yet, but the second egg was laid three days later than the first so there's plenty of time yet

Thanks for the pics, and checking Lai. Great shots.
Sadly it's begining to look as though the 2nd egg is not viable. If its not hatched by morning, I think that will be confirmed. The chcik thats hatched has been named Fleur by Mr P, and continues to feed well

That will be a shame if the other egg does not hatch but at least she's got Fleur Hummingbird - which is a lovely name I love you

Lai those were lovely photo's from yesterday. I have just looked in on Phoebe and Fleur and the egg still hasn't hatched and it's still in the nest. There is no further news on the site via chat and nothing on FB yet as to what they are going to do, we need to keep an eye on what Mr P decides to do.
Heres Fleur and the egg from just now.

Does'nt look good for the second egg. Mr P will not move the egg, because it would be to dangerous for Fleur. Normaly Phoebe will remove the egg herself, she will pick it up, and fly it off. Thanks for checking LW

Mr P has now posted up that the second egg is not viable. As you say now WS it's up to Phoebe to remove the egg when she is ready. It's such a shame but I suppose little Fleur will get fed well but it's nice to have company when mum has gone for a while.
Phoebe has just flown off the nest and Fleur is sleeping.

Hummingbird Hummingbird Hummingbird Hummingbird Hummingbird Hummingbird Hummingbird Hummingbird
Nature has its own way of working things out
Someone was cutting back a tree, when one of the branches fell to the floor there was a nest in it and people noticed a baby Hummer. A rehabber named Monique was called, and tried to put it back, but the mother rejected the baby. She got it touch with Mr P, and it was decided to remove Phoebe's non viable egg, and try to introduce the baby into the nest. This has been done successfully, and so far Phoebe has accepted the new baby who's been named Pip.
Video of the introduction

Phoebe feeding both Pip, and Fleur

Thanks for that WS.

Mr P named Pip after the orphan Pip in Great Expectations. He certainly has a brilliant way with choosing names

How exciting is that! Fleur will have company and Pip will get a good chance of surviving. I loved the fact that Fleur didn't bat an eyelid when Pip was plopped into the nest and little Pip just settled right down once he had got himself sorted out. Pheobe is just the Like a Star @ heaven we know her to be, she got on and fed them both how brilliant is she.
Love the name Pip and yes WS, Mr P does have a way with names, Pip is lovely.
Here they both are just now snuggled together in the nest.
