Hummingbird cam - Phoebe

No its not you Lai for some reason the last part doesn't play   not sure why. Although it was a bit hectic uploading it as so many were watching the release. and also getting it on You Tube, but I did manage to get it on first

 Lai. I have done a very short 40sec slow motion edit to show the first one coming out. it happened that quick you couldn't really see what happened


The good news is that Mr P hs removed the feeding station that was there, to stop anymore nest building till Ana & Pavant had been released to stop them being attacked, and Phoebe has already nearly completed a new nest in 24 hrs   . So it's here we go again

Oh My Goodness    what fantastic news to come back on to. Well Done Monique and Mr P, what a little miracle that is to see Ana and Parvan flying off like that, just brilliant. That could have all gone so differently but thankfully they are both now normal little Hummers    I loved seeing one of them just siting up in the umbrella, I bet the big wide world looks a little scary but just such a joy to see them both fully grown and flying     and Phoebe has built another nest, it definitely is here we go again WS and lets hope this time all goes well and everyone is safe.

Ooooo I am so delighted at seeing this this evening, it has so made my day

 Phoebe has worked at warp speed to build a new nest, she nearly completed it within 24hrs of the release of Anna & Pavant which the Phobie Phans think is something of a record. We are now waiting for eggs to be laid

    Phoebe has laid her first egg. It was laid at 8.28 am, their time. Good old Phoebe    here she is tonight, its a tad windy there but she look just fine. We just need to keep an eye to see when and if another egg is laid.

  Brilliant news LW thanks. Phoebe usualy does lay two eggs, so the other eggs should be due in the next couple of days

Yep hopefully there will be another egg soon. For now though, heres a pic of the first egg laid yesterday.

Just checked on Phoebe and she still has one egg. She has just flown back onto the nest. apparently Phoebe has a middle name now, it's Renata which means reborn, I think that's lovely,

Thanks LW. I thought I'd posted that Mr P had added Renata to Phoebes name, and it does mean renewal, or reborn.
Great news Phoebe has laid her second egg at 7-13am California time, 2-15pm UK time. She's certainly looking after the nest, and already rotating the eggs, as you can see from this quick vid.

That's a lovely video WS and it's good news that we have a second egg. Now all we have to hope for is two successful hatchings and no dramas

This is a new Phoebe Doogs. Each new Hummer that builds a nest in the bush is called Phoebe, so although the name is the same it's a different bird each time, although it's possible some are the same ones as Mr P doesn't ring them.

  Hatch Watch has been brought forward to 27th March

Thanks for the date on Hatch Watch WS. I have just checked and no news so far and Phoebe is sitting on the nest at the moment.

Phoebes first egg has hatched   It was a pre dawn hatch 28th March2014

  Thanks WS and the second egg has hatched as well, it was another pre dawn hatch today so Phoebe now has     two little hummers   

You can just see both of them in the nest.

The babes have been named. Crystal is the first one born, and the second has been names Lola. Lola is a Sancrit word meaning to, and fro. Apparently Lola was born during an earthquake during the night, hence the name, not sure where Chrystal came from yet.
