Welcome Tracker (Charlotte) to WAA. I have been a member for about 18 months and like you came across WAA on the internet while looking for information on Moja and Nyota the lion cub and her mum who I had been lucky enough to see while visiting the Mara. I am a regular visitor to Africa to Kenya, SA and Zambia and like Lai will be returning to Kenya and the Mara also in Feb.
Please feel free to post your comments on views on any of the threads and we would love to see some of your photos.
I will do a post on the Zawadi thread to follow up your comments.

Welcome to WAA Tracker.
It's good to have you here. WAA was set up 4 years ago this month by Whitestarling and myself. It was set up with animal lovers in mind and to cover all animals of the world, no animal is excluded, its up to the members to post anything thats related to their Interest. There is also a huge passion for animal welfare and the habitats animals live in. None of us, as far as I am aware, work in conservation but we all try and do our bit, whether its signing petitions, writing letters of support, sending donations and generally trying to support conservation of all animals and the ecosystem, even by doing little things like planting bee friendly plants. One thing for sure, is that we are passionate about animals and the planet they live on.

So to have an international wildlife biology student join us is really lovely. I am sure there will be lots you will enjoy on the forum so please do just join in wherever you like, you will be more than welcome. We are a very friendly bunch, if not a little nutty at times but we all look forward to getting to know you a little better.

I have 2 cats, Maine coons, Tiga my boy is 9, Splodge my girl is 3 and then there is Nero my 5year old Black Cocker Spaniel, one of his best friends is a male Rottie called Monty, they are nutty together.

Welcome again Tracker and its lovely to have you in the bunch.

Welcome to our neck of the woods Tracker. You will quickly discover that a lovely group of people exist here. I have been a member for just over a year, and I already consider the WAA to be another family to me.

For anyone interested in the preservation of animals as well as going on safari adventures will find this a dream forum to frequent. But not only that, we have a lot of great general conversation to. Most of the members here are British, so of course that makes them 'think' that they have a pretty good sense of humour  Laughing

Like Lai my favourite animal is the leopard (that's after discounting my two jack russells of course  Group Hug )

If you would like to share some stories and photos of your Rottie please feel free to create your own thread in our pets section. We love to learn about our fellow forum members grand companions. In fact I think it is LW who refers to them as the WAA's special members.

Good to have you aboard.

Welcome to our friendly little group

We're all a lovely bunch of people who love animals.

I don't have any pets due to living in rented accommodation but I do have a love of all animals and at the moment I'm trying to work out how to use my newly bought trail camera so I can pics of the birds that visit me when I'm at work

Once again welcome Charlotte to WAA, as I said in your original post about Zawadi. I can only echo my fellows members welcomes, and hope you enjoy the Forum, and join in where ever you want. I do have a favourite animals, and that is the Tiger. However I agree that really the most important thing for the survival of any species no matter what it is, is the bio diversity of its habitat, and really that starts from not just at ground level, but underneath the ground, right up to the atmosphere.

I LOVE all animals...well snakes and poisonous things, not so much  affraid  Laughing , but my tip-top Favorites are Wolves, Raptors (hence the moniker Clouddancer) and Dogs and Big Cats...

HI Cloudy

A huge WELCOME TO WAA it's fantastic to have you here and as Doogs say's you have found the right forum for animal lovers. We post on all sorts of animals and we all have differing favourites but that is great for a varied forum and chat. As Doogs say's after a week you can post pictures, unfortunately that is a rule by the host site not the Admins of WAA, so we look forward to seeing some pictures of your dogs, you can post in the Pet Chat thread.

I'm also an RN but here called RGN, i'm a Nurse Specialist in Rheumatology and specialise in Osteoporosis. ICU and Hospice work is very demanding, upetting and rewarding as well, I take my hat off to you colleague.

I'm a lover of all animals but yes snakes and creepy crawlies do make me take a step back but in the greater picture I have respect for them too and they deserve as much protection as our big cats etc.

I have 2 cats, Tiga and Splodge who are Maine Coons and I have 1 dog, Nero, a Black Cocker Spaniel.......my life would not be the same without them.

Hopefully we will catch up more on site, please feel free to join in where ever you like and please feel free to add your own posts in the threads. We don't stand on ceremony here so again  http://www.picgifs.c  to WAA, have fun and great to have you amongst us animal lovers.

Sorry I've only just welcomed you, but unfortunately I've been off the Forum the last couple of days not feeling well. As the others sat we all have our favourite animals mine is the Tiger, but we love all animals so what ever you want to talk about just jump in. For general everyday chat we have Lets Talk which you will find on the Home Page. How's the weather in Oklahoma are you getting all the snow we are hearing about in the USA ?

Looking forward to hearing more from you, and seeing some photos of Katie Elder, and Ranger Danger  I love you those names

Hi Ashley, a very big  http://www.picgifs.c to Wild About Animals, glad you found us. That's a great list of information thanks, most of us have Pets, and there is a Pets section on the Forums Home page where you can post photos, and talk about them if you wish, although due to security safety by the host site you can't post Photos or Links until seven days after you've joined. Please take your time to look at different sections of the Forum, and if you have any difficulty in finding anything just ask, or any other questions. I hope you enjoy the Forum, look forward to hearing from you soon.
I have posted a reply to your question about Tamu, and her Cubs, and a very brief update on the Marsh Pride on your other post, more information will follow

Hi Ashley New Members Introductions - Page 11 Waving10welcome to our Forum  cheers

Thanks for your information and judging by those answers you have found a number of people on here who like the same animals / wildlife as yourself.

Great to hear you are a Big Cat Diary Fan, it was my love of this programme that enourage me to go to Kenya for the first time in 2006 and I'll be returning again for the 7th time later this year, just love seeing the Marsh Pride etc up close and personal.

What kind of dogs do you have and what are their names ?

Please feel free to have a look about and post on any threads that are of interest.  We are a small but very friendly bunch here and you are most welcome.

Hi Ashley  http://www.picgifs.c  to WAA, it's great to have you here.

You are the first person I have known to own Betta Fish, that's an odd choice, maybe not to you but to me, they are fighting fish aren't they although I understand they don't fight to the death, just until one gives up. The other thing I remember about them is that the female can eat the eggs so the male looks after them in a kind of bubble thing I think. I read about them ages ago when talking about fish with my brother in Law. He used to keep tropical fish but now he spends loads of time and money on his Koi.

Meerkats are an all time favourite of mine, I just love them. Never seen them in their natural environment but Doog and I went to ZSL London Zoo a few weeks ago and they have some delightful Meerkats there, we both posted some pictures in WAA Camera club under ZSL London Zoo (of course!)

I love all big and little cats, I have two Maine Coons ( plus my Cocker Spaniel Nero) but my favourite big cat is the Tiger, they are so majestic.

I do hope you find lots to interest you on here and share your not so favourite animals as snakes and spiders, I would never hurt them but some creatures just do not cut it for being in my top 100 so to speak.

Have a fun time here, join in wherever you like and as Doogs has said, we are a small bunch but very friendly, we don't stand on ceremony so just jump right in and have fun.

That's a Rat Terrier...Most Rat Terriers are mistaken for a Jack Russel Terriers, and Fox Terriers.

Here's a video from Animal Planet about them:

Hi! My name is Laura, I'm from Madrid (Spain, so I hope you can understand my english hehe) I was looking to a forum about animals in english and all I saw was about pets... but then I found this!

I always love animals, I usually visit the zoo of my city (and some others zoos and safaris of my country) so I would like to share with you the photos I take there :) now I'm studying but in the future I would love to work in a zoo or a conservation center (especially with marine mammals, I love them!, or even primates and felines, they are very special for me too).

Well I think this is all I can say about me for present myself... :)

Hello Laura

Welcome to WAA, we're glad you found us. If you need to know anything just ask and we all look forward to you sharing your photos and stories when you can.

I'm a big fan of all wildlife both here in the UK and Africa. I don't know much about marine mammals so will enjoy learning all about them from you.

Hi,

My name is Liz, I live in the West Midlands (UK). I have been looking for a forum like this one for ages, even thought about starting one, but didn't know where to start. Fortunately I stumbled upon your site and now don't need to worry about how to go about it! I found the site name by chance when visiting a wildlife website I'm a regular visitor of.

My husband & I have two cats that we absolutely adore! We both have a passion for wildlife viewing and our holidays always revolve around wildlife and scenery. It's hard to say what my absolute favourite animal is because I love viewing all wildlife from slugs to humpback whales... but if I was forced to choose one it would be bears!

Now I'm going to explore the site and learn some stuff!

Hi Liz
A very big http://www.picgifs.c http://www.picgifs.c to WAA. I'm glad you found our site, it was set up in late 2009, and became operational in 2010, by a few of us that were followers of the Big Cat Diary series on BBC, and has expanded to include animals species from all over the world. Most of us live in the UK, I myself live in North Wales, although I'm from Cheshire, but we have members from Australia, India, America, and Finland. Which animals site did you find our name on ?, all of us watch different wildlife sites inc Blogs Live cams from Africa, UK, and around the world. We did follow a Black Bear called Lilly, and her baby Hope for a long time. Some of our members are regular travellers on Safari's in Africa, and bring us back photos, and videos of their visits.
If there is anything you would like to know, or need help finding, please just ask, and one of us will get back to you

Thanks WS New Members Introductions - Page 11 768480

I found reference to the forum on one of my favourite wildlife photography sites, Images of Wildlife.

Being crazy wildlife people we have course done a few African safaris including Kenya, Tanzania & Namibia. Kenya is our favourite safari country (love Samburu & the Mara), our last trip there was in March this year. We have had some amazing luck over the years including seeing a cheetah with six cubs (back in 2005).

We do have a soft spot for cats as well as our love of bears and have had some great lion, cheetah & leopard sightings. We have also done an Indian safari and seen wild tigers in Kanha & Bandhavgarh (also watched a leopard hunting langur monkeys!)

We have done a few whale watching trips in Hawaii & from the San Juan Islands & Vancouver Island, humpbacks & orcas, so it's not just the furry kind we are interested in Wink

But our main passion is bears, we have done many bear viewing trips guided and unguided, our last trip was in June to Canada (& a bit of Alaska) where we saw 47 bears! We have been lucky enough to see many brown bears (grizzly & coastal brown bears), lots & lots of black bears including the Kermode (Spirit Bear), polar bears & Indian sloth bears.

Honestly I could go on and on about bears! And if anyone has had any great bear viewing experiences they want to share I'd love to read about them (we are always looking for new places to visit).

As well as picking up tips from fellow crazy wildlife people, hopefully, I can return the favour and help anyone planning any trips we have already done.

Really looking forward to engaging with you all Group Hug
