Re: Islay Safari
Great shots again TB, you can almost sense the wildness in that sky shot, and all that sand without a towel in site Great

Re: Islay Safari
Definitely love to visit Islay TB - may have to wait until next year now but it just looks so perfect and not a soul in sight! I love peace and quiet myself.

For real peace and away from it all try Gigha(pronounced ge-ah)
A tiny island with a white coral sand beach,I'm told, this was taken as we passed a mile or so away.

Re: Islay Safari
I'll look that one up TB - would you suggest June as being the best time to go to Islay? (and perhaps Gigha) I talked to Pete about it this morning for next year so was wondering whether May or June or even July?

Re: Islay Safari
If you go too early the migrants won't have arrived and too late the midges will eat you alive(Avon "skin so soft" is the barrier de rigeur(spelling!))
We were a little late for the calling of the Corncrakes as the females were on eggs and the males had no reason to call.Depending on the weather , early to mid June would seem pretty good for wildlife watching. If however you wanted to go "sea watching" for Basking Sharks for example, then brave the midges and go in July or August.

Re: Islay Safari
Some ones been busy, there's not much peat digging for fuel that we could see.Due to the shortage of trees and the ferries being unreliable in winter due to the weather,I can understand this low key foraging of a natural resource.
