There are huge changes going on aren't there WS and the marsh pride will not be as we all know and love it, it's like a season of change.
Good to know Romeo is ok but as the report says, how will he get along as the pride were supplying his food, he will have to start making kills if he is going to survive.
Clawed seems determined not to give up as well, I hope he is healing and will be ok, I wonder how he is doing for food as well? they are both still a great worry even though they are both still around.
Don't fancy the nomadic males chance against those 4 guy's though and lets hope White Eye stays well and safe with the Rhino Ridge pride of Lions.

confused very confusing and sad. We saw Joy with her 4 cubs and one of Sienna's cubs, although our driver said it was Sienna. Reading through the updates from the people that know it definitely was Joy and it was lovely to see she had adopted one of Sienna's cubs, obviously I have missed why or how that happened confused but it was lovely to see.

It is sad Sad What will the normadic male do to Joy's cubs? I'm assuming the lion we saw with 4 cubs was Joy, not that our driver knew, he didn't know much really.

Paul has just commented on his FB page, that Clawed is still in the bushes next to Governors and apparently the park rangers fed him yesterday.

Same here Anne-Marie, some drivers are better than others! I bet you saw Joy too, her cubs weren't too small, but the 5th one belonging to Sienna is quite small - fingers crossed they all survive, I am not enjoying this thread at the moment, it's all a bit tense!

Good news about Clawed, well done to the rangers - I know interference and help is not considered a good thing, but surely there is a case for it sometimes.

I did read earlier, that the Marsh Pride are the only pride the rangers will help because they are so well known worldwide. Hmmm!

It is all very tense. Feel so sorry for poor Clawed. Even with the rangers feeding him, it can't go on forever .. and he can't hunt. Sad

I suppose that's right, the Marsh Pride are world famous, but as you say, it can't go on forever, if he starts to heal and can rejoin Romeo perhaps he will be be okay. I really hope so, Romeo and Clawed are stars as much as Notch is.

I'm glad the Rangers are helping Clawed. yes we all no that interferance is not supposed to be but this fellow has done so much for the Pride and it would be horrible if his end is by Hyena's or the 4 Muskateers as Jonathan says it may be, he doesn't deserve that. I wished Romeo had stayed with him as that may help his recovery. lets hope he does heal and they do find each other again.

affraid it's still all happening out there pale

Amazed that that nomadic male is happy to be with Joy & the cubs, that seems most unusual scratch

I don't usually agree with it but I too am glad that Clawed has been given something to eat by the Rangers - to die alone, injured and starving is not a pleasant way to go No Crying or Very sad At least if they feed him it will give him the strength to have the option to get out of there.

Sounds like White Eye is forming her own little Pride Wink

We definitely saw Joy with her cubs but I'm unsure if the little cub we saw suckling is Sienna's or not scratch It was just a little tooter and from what I am reading her cub seemed a bit older. No idea who the cub would be if it's not Sienna's though scratch

Doogs, apparently Bibi had a little cub, 10 days old on 11th September ... could it have been her? Obviously this cub is no longer with us, as Bibi is mating again, unless Governors have their lions mixed up??

Governors Camp Update:
Photos courtesy of Governors Camp Collection on Facebook:
Marsh Pride Updates - Page 2 Joys__10

Marsh Pride Updates - Page 2 2_sub_10

The photos are of Joy, five cubs and two sub-adult males of the Marsh Pride
on a wildebeest kill. These two males are probably going to be chased out at
some stage. One of the photos is an interesting exhibit of "flemhen" a
phenomenon whereby an animal allows the urine of another to filter on to
their gums and smell cells. The curling of the lips activates an organ in
the pallet that provides information on reproductive state. The cubs - four
of them are Joy's own cubs and one is from an unnamed lioness. Their future
is also uncertain - will the new males kill them or are they old enough to
slip through? Clawed's condition remains the same, the other members of the pride remain on rhino ridge. The four males and bibi have not been seen today and Romeo was seen, but he appears to be injured, not by another lion but by a large prey animal, it looks as though he tried to hunt but was unsuccesful and was injured by either a buffalo or Eland.

Obviously the unnamed lioness is not unnamed - Sienna - this is why I'm wondering if the lion with the small cub is actually Bibi?

Thanks for the update Anne-Marie, the smaller cub we saw with Joy and her 4 cubs was not that tiny. I will have to go through my photos and start posting some soon so we can have a look.

Those two photos are great - it really makes you feel you are there again Very Happy

Thanks for the news AM. It seems like things could still go any way. Joys still doing a good job. Shame about Romeo getting injured by a prey animal as if he had'nt gone through enough. Clawed still seems to be sticking it out, but for how long I dont know, I cant see the rangers being able to feed him all the time

Thanks AM, some great photos you've posted and interesting updates. The cub we saw was not as little as that (couple of pictures below), Bibi's is incredibly cute I love you and very tiny, bless it Sad

Grass gets in the way a bit here
Marsh Pride Updates - Page 2 Cub_111

2nd one is only from behind but at least you can see the size of him/her
Marsh Pride Updates - Page 2 Cub_211

Poor Romeo getting injured Crying or Very sad he really doesn't deserve that No Hope it's nothing too bad and he recovers to get himself a meal soon.

I have seen lions exhibiting "flemhen" before but thanks for the detailed description of what they are doing, very interesting.

Keep going Joy and all that babies you are looking after Marsh Pride Updates - Page 2 71418

Some lovely pictures there but it's all still a muddle isn't it. It's been such a dramatic takeover bid I feel and such a shame that little cubs get caught up in the middle of it all. Hopefully Joy and the cubs will stay safe.
Not good news for Romeo, it's good he is trying to hunt but you just wish he had picked on something easier. Still keeping my fingers crossed for Clawed.

From Governors Camp FB Page

Marsh Pride Update: The four new males have moved away from the area although we think that this may only be temporarily, it is possible, but not certain that as a coalition of four they are able to cover a big area and will be back once having been to other areas. This is not good news for Romeo and Clawed as their return will mean the same scenario as before. Romeo is still in an area we call ma...nagers lugga, about 1.5km south east of Governors Private Camp and not in good condition. Clawed has moved north but has not been seen in a day and a half. The group of twelve lions which include White Eye remain close to the Il Moran / Little Governors Road overlooking the Marsh, it is believed they are stealing hyena kills ( :) ). Joy and her cubs are still east of Bila Shaka . We have a BBC film crew staying with us in camp at the moment filming the big cats and spending all day with the Marsh Pride and they report that at the moment the pride members who are together are doing very little during the day.

Sounds like the poor Marsh Pride don't know whether they are coming or going Crying or Very sad scratch

Thanks for the update Doogs. I suppose the positive is that Romeo and Clawed are still alive, and the 4 Muskateers have moved on ..........for a while. So pleased that Joy and the cubs are still safe and well.

Great that the BBC are there filming - at least we will get regular updates, and a programme to look forward to in the future.

Not sounding too good for Romeo though Crying or Very sad How ironic, I think we all thought if anyone was to go it would be Clawed ! But yest we must also look on the positive side that at least they are still alive, I hope not in pain though Sad

BBC were there when we were - saw Warren quite a few times. Not sure what exactly they were doing scratch
