Thanks Lai. We were in Dehli, Rajastan and Mumbai. The wildlife photos were taken mostly in the Thar Desert and in Ranthambore National Park.

Thanks for sharing these MM. Love the Tiger shots, my favourite Big Cat, that must have felt awsome watching it walk past, I do'nt know if I could have kept the camera still, with the excitement. Great shots of the Owl, Antelope, and Squirrel, as well.

Mara Mad - those tiger shots are just wonderful. I am sooooooooooo jealous, the one big cat I have never seen and always wanted to. I've not visited Ranthambore NP only Kaziranga NP and we didn't see any tigers. What an amazing experience that must have been, a truly wonderful looking tiger!
Love the other photos as well but blown away by the tiger I bet the Thar desert was beautiful.

Re: Wildlife Photos - India 2008
Thanks all. We were SOOO lucky. We were really expecting to be disappointed as the guide told us there is only about a 1 in 3 chance of seeing a tiger and we were only there for the day. Ranthambore works on a lottery basis in that you pull a number from a hat and that determines which part of the National Park you get to enter and most are lacking in tigers as the terrain is all wrong! In the morning we "picked" a poor number but were lucky enough to see a male tiger. In the afternoon we "picked" a good number and saw a female with cubs from a distance (no good photos ) and the female who hung around for ages. Such beautiful creatures - their fur looks incredibly soft like a domestic cat's! Managed to resist the temptation to jump out and have a cuddle though!
Ngorongoro Crater photos next!

What a way of doing it - it must be so frustrating if you pick the wrong number and know full well you have no chance of seeing a tiger! Having said that there is some beautiful wildlife to see anyway and it should always be about the whole experience
Looking forward to your next batch Mara Mad - I know Doogs has been to the crater, but she's away at Cheltenham all week

Wonderful photos MM! I remember a documentary with the head ranger at Ranthampore NP following Latchme and her family. Cant remember what it was called. True fabulous documentary!
I have been to the Ngorongoro Crater and loved the way it looked pretty barren when you drop down into, but all of a sudden start coming across animal herds etc.
Looking forward to seeing them MM.

Thanks Safari Maiden. Started loading the Ngorongoro photos last night but then lost internet connection (aaaagh!) so will try again later today. Agree with you re the Crater - looks from the rim that there will be nothing there and then it's amazing. I especially loved the flowers at the time of year we were there (May) -very different from anywhere else I have been. Looked liked lions in an English wildflower meadow!

Wonderful photos Mara Mad, however the tigers are something special. I bet you treasure those pics! Must have been the most amazing and humbling experience when you saw them. I don't think I would have been able to keep the camera still.

What wonderful photos MM, thanks so much for sharing.
How totatlly totally wonderful you got to see some tigers over there, that must have been very special. Loving the photos of them and also beautiful shot of the owl and is that a parrot or a parakeet ?

How on earth did I miss those photos MM, they are beautiful but most especially the Tiger ones, they are my favourite big cat and I too would have been fighting the urge to jump out and have a cuddle..........seriously wouldn't have done so though There is just something so magical about the Tiger and it has such a prescence, I am truely envious but so pleased you got to see them. A friend of mine has been to Ranthambore a few times and not always seen a Tiger or Tigers because of the lottery, how awful it would be if you kept picking the wrong number.
Loved the Owl photo, so beautiful and look forward to seeing your other photos when you get time to load them.
