Sadly one of the Blue Tit chicks has died. The nest is now over crowded, they should have fledged, but because of the cold wet conditions they have'nt, and this one was stuck underneath the others. The Barn Owls are also finding it difficult getting food, because of the conditions, they are unable to hear any prey. Usualy they come in every 1/2 Hr but its been over an hour since the last feed. Better weather tomorrow at Ynis hir so fingers X for the Birds

Thats not good is it WS, nature has a cruel twist for the animals sometimes, it's the wrong time of the year to be having such dreadful rain.
lets hope the Barn Owls are able to get some food to their owlets soon, it would be sad if anything happened there.
At least the forecast is better for tomorrow so hopefully the birds will have an easier time. Thanks for the update WS.

Last quick update. The Owletts have been fed, and they all look OK.
Remember the slug who was trying to make friends with the Mouse. Well his name is Big Harry on SW now, and he's trying to cuddle up with the Wood Warblers now BBC2 Springwatch 2012 - Page 3 40683

Sad sad news for all these animals and birds with this rubbish weather, hoping today is better at Ynys-hir, it certainly is here, so fingers crossed the blue tits can fledge.

Taped yesterdays SW as I was watching the Jubilee Concert, so going to catch up with it now before tonights episode. I just hope wales is having better weather and the birds aren't suffering with all this rain. it's still pouring here.

Wonder how Big Harry is doing and who he is trying to snuggle up with now Very Happy

You were spot on WS - just checked their FB page and it seems there is more drama What a Face with the kingfishers nest.

I've just tried their website but I am struggling to get on it which is a shame as I wanted to check the different cams.

I'm still a day behind, hopefully by tomorrow night I'll have caught up. I'm really worried for our feathered friends, and the other animals who have young, with this weather we are forcast. High winds, rain, and low tempretures, do not bode well for the young just born

Great pictures there WS and Lai cheers it is going to be worrying for all these little birds and their parents this evening and tomorrow WS, the weather forecast is pretty bad, I so hope they all manage to stay safe and hopefully there will be no bad news on the website or on Mondays programme.

Wont mention tonights programme WS as you havent seen it but it was another great show and also there was Unsprung as well. I will agree with you about football though, his feathers are really coming in and it was very evident on tonights programme.

I bet it seemed strange seeing someone you knew on the TV PPH, I loved the little cat cam Very Happy

From their FB page an hour ago

A soggy goodnight from Ynys-hir. Heavy rain and a river bursting its banks has led to unforeseen flooding.

We've had to take the webcams off air as a result, and evacuate the site.

We will be back at 9.30am on Saturday morning with an update, and hopefully an indication of when we might be able to rejoin our animals.

I hope all the birds and wildlife will stay safe.

Thanks Lai, I just checked the cams myslef, and was going to post the news. I hope all the animals will be OK to, its a worrying time. The kingfisher baby's would'nt have survived, the river bursting its bank, strange how nature works.
