Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
I think the above article explains why our Bird food is going so quick. The seed feeder we use is about 10 inches long, and it was empty 48Hrs after I filled it up, and the nuts are rocketing out

it's amazing how quickly our nuts are going too - more popular than normal

I have stopped buying the bird seed mix and swapped it for some sunflower hearts. The birds are loving them and combined with the mealworms, raisins and suet pellets they are eating them up very quickly

Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
I think it comes down to what you find goes PPH. We've found that our seed is going like wildfire at the moment, also the Fatcakes we make go faster than bought ones. The sunflower seeds fly out I can fill the tray, and they are all gone in a matter of hours. I took this photo yesterdat after I filled the feeders up
This was 24Hrs later, you can see how much the seed has gone down. The fatcake we make is the one at the bottom

I can't believe how many birds have appeared at the feeders and how much food they are eating I think we now have more pheasants than ever before, we counted 9 hens and 1 cock, no wonder all the ground food is going
Best news is the return of the greenfinch and goldfinch.

Blimey Lai, all those pheasants. I usually seem a Cock pheasant on the way to work in the morning in the fields. They do have wonderful colours.

We used to have Greenfinches where we lived before, but I've not seen any since we moved, or Goldfinches. We have loads of Pheasants around in the field just over the road, but they dont come into the farm area, could be the Farm Dog, or Percy the Peacock frightens them off

Day 2 of my unemployment and I have had lots of visitors to my feeder, Rodney the Robin is looking healthy and well fed and is a constant visitor and his favourite titbit at the moment is the suet pellets I've been putting out.
The sparrows have also being visiting, one in particular seems to use my feeder as a stop over point while literally 'feathering' its nest. It flies up to my feeder with a feather in his beak, drops the feeder in the tray, has something to eat and then picks up the feather and flies away

Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
no luck with the RSPB WS, but they did have a lot of internal candidates. Not letting it get me down as Ive applied for a job with Oxfam and looking for jobs with the local Wildlife Trust. I am thinking of contacting the local RSPB office and asking if they need volunteers so I get a bit of experience
Ive decided that I would like to work for a charity or organisation that helps wildlife so that I can have a job that makes a difference. Hopefully with the start of the new tax year there are new budgets coming into place so hopefully new jobs opening up

So sorry to hear about the job interview PPH - but great that you now know what field you would like to work in, I am sure something will come up soon, and it would be lovely to do a job that you enjoy and that makes a difference.
Meantime you can enjoy all your visitors to your feeder

Loving the visitor to your feeder PPH Sorry I didn't realise you were looking for another job. I hope one comes up soon for you. Charity work or wildlife is such a wonderful choice, I will be keeping my fingers crossed for you. Good Luck.

Our Woodpeckers back have'nt seen him since before the snow in November. We think its the same one as he comes at the same time in a morning. Not a very good view as its through the window, and he keps hiding behind the fat cake
We also now have a pair of Greenfinches which is a first for us since we moved here acouple of years ago

Lovely to see you have Greenfinches WS - they've had a problem so it is wonderful to know they are on the up again.
I guess the woodpecker needs his energy this time of year so he'll be visiting you daily again

sitting here watching a female blackbird 'feeding' from one of my trays. I say feeding, more like sticking her beak in and making a right royal mess

Great to hear you have a blackbird feeding, they have such a wonderful song, I hope you can hear it as well, unless it is too busy eating
