He is trying to get a picture of our little Wren (my favourite little bird), but it is too fast. (Not to mention I phoned today while he was lining up the shot and put him off )

I shall overcome my dear. I will prevail. The problem is that with these high winds the Wren is breaking all sorts of speed records, even if its ability to control its direction has been somewhat hampered.
Meantime, here's a few more photos for those who need a fix...

Some nice shots, and names there TT. It's that windy here, we've had near gales for 2 days now, and it's still howling outside. That I've had to take our feeder down it was in danger of snapping in two. The birds were even having problems landing on it

Just loving all the pics, stories and names TT you have such an array of birds visiting your garden and its so lovely to see them all.
You were right to take your feeder down WS, mine has gone rather wobbly and an odd angle with all this wind and one of the feeders hung itself all sorted now but it was in a pickle this morning.
Look forward to more pics TT and SM.......stay off the phone

I woke up at about 6-00am this morning, and the wind had dropped so I got up, and went, and put the feeder back up. The Birds missed supper yesterday, so I thought at least they could have an early breakfast. Glad you sorted yours LW. Has the feeder recovered

We've been getting high winds down here in Oxfordshire, not as bad as up in Wales but I have noticed that the number of visitors dropped yesterday. The winds have dropped now and I have had my usual sparrow fest of visitors

The high winds are back again today I've left the feeder up so far, but it's swaying all over the place, and the Birds are having trouble landing on it

I am thinking our's may have to come down as well WS, the various hanging feeders are all horizontal, but the poor little birds are trying to feed so I must leave it for now.

Ours are swinging that much the Birds cant even land on the feeders. I've thrown all the seed on the ground fingers X they will find it. Still got one feeder up against the wall with fat balls in

Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
Good idea WS - I also have a lot of food on the ground. I am sure the birds are used to all this awful weather

The wind has really played havoc hasn't it. I sorted my feeder the other day but it went all wobbly again and the seed got blown all over the place. The birds have been feeding but it has been rather difficult for them. It's all calmer now so hopefully tomorrow will be better for them. The birds have had a tough winter so far haven't they.......Hurry up Spring

Great news yesterday, after what seems like ages we had a visit from a Greenfinch and a Goldfinch we used to have so many Goldfinch and then they all vanished. I am hoping this is good news and they will all be back soon.

Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
Thats great news Lai, they have both suffered from a drop in numbers recently because of desease. We used to have quite a few greenfinches at the last places, but sadly none here

I think I'm going to have to stop buying bags of mix bird seed as my birds are leaving the maize and wheat and only eating the sunflower seeds and hearts. They are also eating the meal worms, suet pellets, raisins and peanuts
Maybe its because this time of year they need high energy food but its a lot of waste. Has everyone else noticed a change in what they are eating

Ours have been doing that as well PPH. Especialy the Great Tits, you can watch them throwing it out searching for the sunflower seeds, but we do have a lot of ground feeders so it's not going completely to waste. Perhaps its spring in the air, and they are getting ready for all the courtship

Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
I find they pick out the best bits first and then the rest gets left for later - it all goes though. Perhaps it's the jackdaws and pigeons who don't mind as long as it's food. But you are right PPH maize is the very last to go!

Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
with all the heavy rain we've been getting in the last week its all been going very soggy in the trays. It is fun watching Rodney the Robin and the blackbirds searching through to find out what they want

Re: Our Feeding Stations :):)
I have definiately notieced all the high energy food going first but my pigeon doesn't seem to mind what he eats, he will snaffle out of the tray and also off the floor, so he's a good hoover.
