Re: Jackson Looseyia's Blog
I too saw it on Facebook AM but only thought she had 4 cubs as per the photo that Jackson posted, absolutely delighted to see she has in fact got 6 !!! She is such a brilliant mum, everything possible crossed that this lot make it.
There seems to be a bit of confusion as to whether it is Shakira or not but the spots defo match up to a photo I took of her in 2006 (which I posted on Jackson's FB page).
Just wonderful and I sooooooooooooooooooo wish I was out there, very jealous of anyone who is there at the moment :|

Re: Jackson Looseyia's Blog
I agree with one of the comments, difficult to see with just a couple of photos. J & A will be at Rekero 10th - 17th October and will no doubt be updating their blog. I think two of the ladies I met at Rekero in Dec 2008 may be on their safari in October (will have to research that and find out).
Whoever she is it's amazing and wonderful that she has 6 cubs.

Re: Jackson Looseyia's Blog
This is all a bit Hopefully we'll find out soon who she is for sure.
Whoever she is though she's gorgeous and has 6 gorgeous babies there She's got a tough time ahead of her to keep them all alive but to get them past the really young stage that she has already done she is doing just brilliantly, keep it going girl :)

Hi Acinonyx, thanks for the photo's, looks like it may not be Shakira who is the mum of the 6 cubs, hopefully it will get confirmed for us soon.
Unfortunately due to the size of the page, it's not possible to view the comparison shots as posted, so hopefully you wont mind me adding the link so that members can view them as you intended them to be seen. The link brings up the blue arrow scroll bar so you can scroll across the pics at the bottom of the page.

Re: Jackson Looseyia's Blog
Hi Acinoynx, You can definitely make out the prominent circle of spots on Shakiras cheek in your first photo which is lacking in the photos of the Ronkai Female, making it doubtful the cheetah with the cubs is Shakira.
It is a pity for Shakira, but great news that there is another breeding female helping the population in the Mara of these wonderful cats.

Hi Acinoynx
Thanks for posting these photos. As you say the spots dont match up, so it looks as though it is not Shakira. A shame as you say it would have been a great story, but as SM said its great that there is another breeding Cheetah, and she has done a brilliant job up till now to get 6 Cubs this far

Re: Jackson Looseyia's Blog
It's looking more like the female with the cubs is the Ronkai female and not Shakira, which is kind of a shame but nice for the Ronkai female.
Thanks for posting your photo's as well Lai, it's one of the occasions where the more comparisons we have the better.

Re: Jackson Looseyia's Blog
Latest from Jackson on FB:-
"Our Cheetah with six cubs is doing well and now Jonny and Warren along side other members of his group reveal the mum to Shingo not Shakira. She was film in 2008 by the BBC on a program called "Great Rift on the Savanna"
So confirmation that it's not Shakira but brilliant that mum and 6 cubs are all still together

Re: Jackson Looseyia's Blog
Thanks Doogs as you say a shame it's not Shakira, but as I said before it's fantastic that she has managed to get 6 Cubs this far. Lets all keep our fingers X. That she keeps on doing so well, although I think it will be difficult.

Thanks for the update Doogs!
I wonder if we can see the programme 'Great Rift of the Savanna' anywhere?
